Okay, on to the next topic [:)]
How's the sub war and organization going?

This may seem like an interrogation or an intelligence operation for your esteemed opponent, but assure you Lowpe-san, it is not. I'm just trying to cope with a massive undertaking that is, as ny59 said, Japanese pace of operations in the early stages of war. Setting things up, so they run more smoothly afterwards. Especially after my long pause from WitP. And what better way than to learn from the more expirienced? [&o]
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage.

I won't build either of them up. The 8K tankers fit just fine and can run to Luzon just fine. 11K tankers at Brunei. No problem in draining them dry.

I use the 1250 ton Tankers to move oil / fuel from Miri / Brunei after the initial rush. Currently I have some PBs guarding two TFs of 5 TKs (1250 ton) hauling from there to CRB. The TFs dock and load unload quickly. Miri hauls out fuel and Brunei hauls oil.

I keep 1 larger (11800 ton) Tanker at CMB to use for the overflow every so often. This way I free up the larger tankers for the more important bases - Balikpapan, Palembang, etc... or for hauling fuel to destinations.

I think Jeff disagrees with me, but I'm converting the 18 and 19 knot TKs to AOs to increase operational flexibility. Yes, you lose a little capacity, but I can now have two Replenishment TFs. I will use them to haul fuel/oil as needed.

Std-A, B, C xAKs can convert to TKs in June 42. Use them is safe areas until then.

Yep, I like using the tankers as tankers, and merchants as oilers from their bunkers.

I follow Pax's guidelines that the KB really needs to be idle half the time and in port in a scenario 1 style game.

Agree on the Standard series tanker conversions.

You have to watch using those tiny 1250 tankers anywhere but Fusan and Hokkaido...they eat so much fuel.

Heavy presence around Pearl and West Coast still...nailed one big AP that would become an APA. They are undetected...

Medium strong presence around Aleutians...

They will deploy from Adak to to cover the West Coast heavily.

All new subs going to SRA...where a handful are operating.

Two mistake attacks (one Val, one Lilly) lead to more losses than expected...but sweeps go off well over Singers and Soerabaja.

Denpassar invasion for tomorrow. Kendari invasion force leaving.

Allied sub got four torpedoes off at Hiryu today...thankfully safe.

Sank a whole bunch of riff-raff to steal CR's terminology.

Just close the AF, the squadron can't rail out.

I had a battleship in the area for just this purpose...but she left for the fighting in the SRA. Will see what I can dig up...putting the finishing touches on the turn.

ABDA managed to sneak these guys out of Singers...I had a battleship task force patrolling to the east of Johore Baru..and they missed the engagement unfortunately.

Naval bombardment can start fires and damage the industry, as I learned some time ago to my annoyance! No need to needlessly damage an industrial centre that will be yours for quite some time!

I like this area...and I am sure that Obvert will use small ship tactics to take dot bases...I will need to be able to counter. However, I am thinking his true 43 moves will be aimed at the SRA.

If I remember correctly to get to Johor you have to go through Singapore so you won't be able to intercept these bombardment runs. In fact if you have ships react they'll get shot up by Singers shore defences and mines

Hey, you are right. The map shows a connection to the east...but sending a small ship there goes thru Singers.

Many thanks.[&o]

Turn is finished and off to the Allies...who are much quicker doing there turns than I am.

I had a catastrophic failure on one of the battleships that was hit by torpedoes...a jump of 35 major flotation roughly![:(] Three hexes from port closest port...moving everything to save her. System damage is at 34, up from 26...she was moving at cruise with lots of escorts.

Even if I save her...she is out of the war for at least a full year.
