Final thoughts

I’m hoping that my recce elements will be able to get into place and determine where the main Soviet approaches will be. That will give me time to adjust my defence.

My AD elements are spread across my front and should be good.

It will not take long for my companies on the move to get into locations – so that is good.

I’m expecting a hard push – likely toward Hassendorf. I’m a little concerned about a strong push in the West, as I’m weak on the ground there.

I’m going to try to be aggressive with my fire support using ICM and FASCAM early. I will try to remember to use the mortars to place some smoke down.

My favourite way to take out Soviet Artillery is with direct fire systems...

AAR

What did I do right?

The plan was good – having the 2nd Armd Bn in the centre was a very good idea. It allowed me to react to the attack more quickly.

My FASCAM mission went well. Not only did it take out about 8 T-80s, it forced the Soviets off the road and into the woods, slowing them down.

The forward placement of my AD worked well – especially early on.

Did not end up needing them, but I liked how I planned the movement of the Bde Reserve…

What could I improve on?

I lost too many tanks – mainly by pushing them forward on their own. I could have created a better defence South of the woods/B71 area without pushing the tanks into that area. Same thing in the East where I lost the entire company.

Thoughts on the scenario/game

This scenario was fun. It did not last long, but it was really nice to see my plan come together. Overall, it was short and sweat!

Good one!

In my game, the main Soviet force came through Westerholz directly south, even crossing the river and getting some units inside the city. It was quite hard to force them to vacate it [X(]

Love how in each game/scenario the AI tackles the problem differently [&o]

Galahad78,

Thanks and I agree with you, having a good AI makes the game so much more challenging and, therefore, interesting.

It is very difficult to get the Soviets out once they get into a city!

Have a good day,

Mike
