Moscow Defense Zone HQ

Post by wga8888 »

its turn 25 and the MDZ has arrived (with an additional 125 APs). At the onset of Blizzard, my human opponent had pushed to Moscow putting W Moscow an another perimeter city hex into my Soviet Front line. As such, there was a crowd of Soviet units in the area. The MDZ did not appear in the vincinity of Moscow per the manual, but insteaad at Nizhny Tagil on the east edge. In this location, it is effectively useless and cannot be moved because it is the MDZ (per the manual). Will it be permanently stuck there? is this a design flaw or perhaps this placement was related to the games situation?

My original question was to ask if the MDZ was a military District or a Front HQ; how does it differ from the Moscow Military District. The MDZ and MMD seem redundant.

I subsequently posted to the tech support page. Was told it would automatically relocate to Moscow and confirm it did so on the following turn (turn 26) as I left a Moscow city cluster hex that was not stacked 3 units high. I am not sure what the disticntion is between the MDZ and the Moscow Military District. However it does act as another higher HQ armies can be attached to. At this point in the game, there are two many armies relative to the number of fronts and military districts, overloading cannot be avoided unless a lot of populated armies remain under Stavka.
