Shouldn't that be El Lobo having the nightmares, rather than Capt. Haggard?

The four southern Marianas Islands are stuffed with Marine Defense Battalions and AA Regiments.

I doubt that El Lobo has nightmares. Like everything else in life that comes his way, he pretty much just takes everything in stride. He is a tough nut to crack. Only occasionally is he pushed too far. When he is pushed too far, duck, because his response will not make for a pretty picture.

I plan to push El Lobo too far by invading Formosa, hopefully, no later than October 1, 1943.

Most of those attacks are port attacks...but there is a naval strafing attack by Nicks that targeted 2 subs and one xak. How is that even possible?

Haven't a clue.

I'm not concerned though as El Lobo will lose lots of pilots attempting to bomb the four southern Marianas Islands and whatever port or runway damage he inflicts will just be repaired the next day as the Allied controlled Marianas Island bases are stuffed with engineers.

We here at Sub Command loathe information made public (hence the term "Silent Service"); however, for the sake of the pixel families back home, I am compelled to report the USS Pike is fine and well.

The heroic Dutch sub 023, already severely damaged, did sink.

The USS Balao, having already suffered extensive flotation damage in the closing hours of Operation Sea Shark, sank as well. She was days from making a try to Wake.

Because both vessels were docked at the time, repair crews were alerted and few casualties were suffered. Plus,I've got a pair of fine captains waiting for their next command...

Now as you all know, I've barely been around the block in this gig, but I have to say in regards to the last CR that I have never seen air combat casualties like that. Typically, I watch at "fast speed"; I watched these in regular speed, but the rapidity with which the Judys and Jills lit red and dropped away was very much like watching in fast speed. And a very small percentage were damaged, relative to those destroyed. No idea why.

6.) The Allies deliberately attacked Toungoo. The Japanese substantially won the battle.

In the combat report it states the Nicks are on a naval strike, not a port strike....on a port strike the combat report only lists ships hit...for the nicks it shows them attacking two subs and a surface ship with no hits.

I have never seen a combat report before where planes on naval attack actually attacked subs.

Now I see what you were puzzled at. Could the Nicks have been set to "Naval Strike/Port Strike" and then the Combat Report just showed Naval Strike even though it was a Port Strike? Not sure if the CR takes it's cue from the initial strike set for the squadron or the type of strike the AI is using at the time.

250 Transport Aircraft are flying supply from Jessore to Ramree Island. Supply is increasing at a rapid rate enabling numerous engineers to quickly increase the levels of the Port, Aircraft Capacity, and Fort on the island.


Synopsis of Combat Action for Today


1.) The Japanese bombed Chungking. The Chinese did not suffer any casualties. The Airbase, Airbase Supply, and Runway received hits. One Sally and one Helen were damaged.

2.) The Allies deliberately attacked near Taung Gyi (hex 58,49). The Japanese suffered 2,565 casualties. The Allies suffered 1,200 casualties.

3.) Allied Artillery bombarded Toungoo. The Japanese suffered 42 casualties. The Allies did not suffer any casualties.

4.) Allied Artillery bombarded near Toungoo (hex 56,51). The Japanese suffered 98 casualties. The Allies suffered 4 casualties.

Captain Haggard's submariners trashed Palm Tree Hut on Wake Island causing the MPs to converge on the hut in record numbers and causing over $350.00 in damage to the bar. When asked to account for his destructive submariners, Captain Haggard replied, "The boys were just blowing off steam and having a little fun." The good news is that only minimal casualties were inflicted on the hookers.

1.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Paoshan (hex 66,44) forcing my brace Chinese to retreat.

2.) Japanese artillery bombarded near Paoshan (hex 64,45). Casualties were minimal on both sides.

Highlight for Today


In Burma, though El Lobo is retreating toward Rangoon, his retreat is a fighting withdrawal. At this time, that is a good thing for the Allies as Japanese infantry divisions are steadily being chewed-up and suffering from substantial disruption and fatigue. Further, the slow-retreat is providing valuable time for the Allies to move additional ground forces to assist in blocking the fleeing Japanese from reaching Rangoon. The Allies hope to trap and destroy as many Japanese ground forces in Burma as is possible.


Synopsis of Combat Action for Today


1.) Japanese bombed Chungking. Casualties were minimal on both sides.

2.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Tsuyung (hex 68,45). Brave Chinese soldiers held their turf.

3.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Chengtu (hex 76,41). Brave Chinese soldiers held their turf.

We here at Haggard Group HQ applaud our boys for rating a "Highlight for Today" mention, and we look forward to being featured again real soon.

As to the ladies: with all gentlemanly deference to the fair sex, the only one worthy of mention was 86'ed from "Howlin' Ed's" in Rabaul and found her way to Wake on a rogue AMc out of Melbourne (that no one knows to this day what to do with). Boatswain's Mate Ford of Tuna thinks she might be the reason the Emperor skipped attacking Wake, and in this case, any peripheral damage to the attendant fair sex was inadvertent when chairs and tables were upended in the rush to get away "'cause she got her gander up", according to Fireman Rodgers of Snook.

Plus the local MPs can't seem to get laid. Can't Army request uglier ladies for these poor guys?

The Allies attacked Toungoo for the second time and reduced the fort level to two. However, it was a costly attack for the Allies with substantial casualties on both sides.


Synopsis of Combat for Today


1.) Japanese bombed Chungking. Both sides received minimal casualties.

2.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Paoshan (hex 66,44) forcing the 37th Group Army Headquarters to retreat.

3.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Kienko (hex 80,40). The 27th Chinese Corps held their turf.

4.) Allies deliberately attacked Toungoo. The Japanese suffered 3,215 casualties. The Allies suffered 5,229 casualties.

5.) Allied artillery bombarded near Toungoo (hex 56,51). Both sides received minimal casualties.
