Desert War: Heroes Who Made a Difference

Franco Lucchini
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco_Lucchini

The Franco Lucchini Air Asset in Desert War can enhance Counter-air and Interdiction missions during game play. On the Allies side, who do you think best represents similar capabilities? Why should he be included in the game?

Best answer will have an equivalent Allies Air Asset included in the game.

As always Wodin...you are on the right track. But we already have those guys...and others...already covered. We need "The Best" Commonwealth Ace nominees.

Could I suggest Australian Ace, Clive Caldwell - he was the top scoring allied pilot in the North African Theatre ?

Not an acre as suh but I believe Hans Von Luck was present in the African Campaign. He is author of the superb and well known memoir Panzer Commander.

Three New Zealanders mention here https://nzhistory.govt.nz/war/the-north-african-campaign who won the VC.

Gerhard Homuth won Knights Cross https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerhard_Homuth

Let's narrow this research down abit. I need aces (German, Italian, Commonwealth) who shot down the equivalent of a squadron (~12-16 aircraft) DURING their time in North Africa.

So far we have:

Marmaduke Thomas St John Pattle (CW)
Clive Robertson Caldwell (CW)
Gerhard Homuth (GE)
Hans-Joachim Marseille (GE)
Franco Lucchini (IT)

Who do you know? Point me...I'll figure out the rest. All I need is a name.

Go get it. Report back.

L.C. Wade, an American flying with the RAF in the Mediterranean theater, including North Africa where he had 15 confirmed kills.

Canadian James "Stocky" Edwards. He had at least 17 kills although some were after the time period of the game.

Not an air ace, admittedly, but Major-General Jock Campbell VC, a truly heroic figure who led from the front in Crusader, should certainly be included.
Cheers
