U.S.S.R. vs Japan Scen/Cam?

Post by AbsntMndedProf »

Has anyone done any scenarios or campaigns of the battles between the U.S.S.R. and Japan either before WW II, or at the end of WW II? Thanks!

Yes they have, Professor. Here is one of mine you might want to try. It is called Latecomers.

This is the background

_______LATECOMERS*
*
_USSR Advance vs. Japan Delay*
Hualin, Manchuko, August 13, 1945*
*
_Design: Wild Bill Wilder*
E-Mail: billw@matrixgames.com*
*
Note: In solitaire play, the human player should take the Russian side.*
*
Fortunately for Russia, their undivided attention was able to be focused on fighting the Germans. The Japanese, after receiving a bloody nose in 1939 from Soviet forces in Mongolia, were too busy waging war elsewhere.*
*
Since, however, Germany had capitulated, Stalin turned his eyes to the east. Even now, as a red veil began to setle over Europe (later to be called an "Iron Curtain" by Churchill), The Premier also wanted to grab as much of Asia as possible.*
*
On the same date as the dropping of the second Atom Bomb on Japan, Russia unleashed her forces of over one million troops, 5,000 tanks, 26,000 artillery pieces and a Far East Air Force of 4,000 aircraft.
*
The Kwangtung Army fights back ferociously. The shame and desperation borne of the knowledge of a possible surrender creates a suicidal fanaticism in the Japanese soldiers.*
*
The key battle to breaking the back of Japanese defenses in Manchuko would take place around the city of Hualin and the large bridge spanning the river.*
*
Colonel Anischik's 257th Tank Brigade, reduced to 19 T-34 tanks with Soviet Engineers will now charge the bridge. Japanese soldiers, committed to the death, tie large satchel charges to their bodies to become human bombs against the tanks. It is a critical hour for both sides.**

My very great pleasure, Eric!

Anything else I can do, let me know. I remember your offer and if anything opens up, I'll let you know.

How did you do, by the way?

Played this one...those Soviets definitely didn't have mine detectors back then...except T-34 kind.

Wellllll, I wasn't doing too badly until I reached the town and all them Japanese units with body bombs started popping up all over the place. I lost several T34s to them before my atty and infantry units managed to clear a path for them. I finally took the bridges and scored a MV. There were some nasty minefields as well, that had to be avoided. Luckily my early atty barages revealed most of them before they bit any of my units in the @$$.:D
