The Kuriles have not been developed.

I like Shimushiri Jima for a key base in the Kuriles - it can be built big enough and the open ocean hex buffer on each side helps keep the mini-subs from adjoining islands at bay (they only have about two hexes of movement). The central position is great for recon, search and interdiction.

Oddly enough, assaulting PJ releases some depot divisions on Honshu but the rest of the Kuriles have a different "country code" and do not release reinforcements. Kamikazes are another matter.

I'm curious about the release of these reinforcements. Is it a "one time only" occurrence? I invaded Paramushiro about 8 months ago game time, and it was a successful invasion, but premature. I took it, but couldnt hold it. I am considering a return visit - and feel that the release of reinforcements should only be a one-time event. Is that a correct assumption ?

I think so. AFAIK those Depot Divisions do not withdraw so they should still be there on Honshu. I'm not sure if he could even buy them out and move them.

EDIT: Additional info - use the "4" key to see the country codes. PJ is coded 100, the same as the four big islands of Japan. The rest of the Kuriles are coded 101.

There are different zones that have emergency reinforcements. Once the conditions are met to release these troops it happens one time only for each of the zones.

Major amphib force heading for..... Shikuka

MrKane has sent emergency reinforcements to the Kuriles and I sank some ships this turn. Next turn he will see what my true target is as all of my ships will pass the outer barrier enroute to Shikuka. The base has currently 6/6 airfield/port. There are 2 units in the base, most likely non-combat.

At this point unloading will happen in 2 turns and I cannot see any way MrKane gets more troops in there unless he has forces in strat mode at Toyohara.

Toyohara is a lvl 8 base and one of the most immediate threats. I have 4 STF's composed of battleships and cruisers along for the ride along with AE's to rearm if I manage to take a base to do it at.

My expectation is one or more days of heavy air attacks with kamakazi's. MrKane likely has less than 10 battleships in the area as some were last seen around Singapore. In our last combat near Davao he had 8 and 1 was sunk along with another that was significantly damaged. Since I sailed straight away he likely has 6 or less if he is even moving to intercept.

I have no recon so am mostly blind ATM, relying on strength of force. There are over 1100 aircraft in my main group and it is meeting with another large group of CVE's primarly providing another 550+ aircraft. Essentially my whole air arm is in this theatre.

Troops are prepped 100% with 2 amphib HQ's on AGC's to assist with unloading. I have 3 divisions plus 3 armor units plus everything else I could carry - 75,000 stacking.

I have brought along an additional 100 AK's that are empty that I may employ as a shield if things get ugly. There are another 300 transports with the troops and 600,000 tonnes of supplies.

Sept 17 was a good day for the allies in the air. This is mostly due to me correctly defending against a number of traps set on Java now that I am heating up the war there.

MrKane manages to attack and force a retreat of tanks near Bangkok costing me quite a few. On the flip side he has given up any good terrain northwest of bangkok and over 2000 AV will be moving on top of the railroad line running down to Singapore effectively cutting any supply or transport along the route.

A counter attack near Bangkok nets the Allies as many tanks as the Japanese killed.

My amphib task force commander decided to impress me and move 7 hexes instead of 6 and start unloading a day before schedule. Luckily there were no combat TF's at Shikuka.

880AV on the ground, should be an easy attack to take the base.

This next turn should be the one where I get hit hard by his airforce I am guessing. after that I will have a lvl 6 airfield at my disposal if everything goes according to plan... LOL!

Shikuka was captured intact from a brigade and a construction unit. Now I can deploy my patrol aircraft to see what is around. Surprisingly there was no air attack last turn.

The majority of the landing craft used for this op were xap & xak along with some AP & AK. I didnt use the amphibious assault ships and it only took 2 days total to unload the whole army because I filled them 1/2 up with troops instead of full and they were completely prepped.

Shikuka is a clear hex so building forts to reduce damage from bombings and bombardments would be a good idea IMO.
Nice amount of supply at the base - was some of that captured?
What are you going to do with the 216,000 tons of coal you took? [:D]

I am going to trade the coal to the Russians for Vodka!!!

There are 4 full AA units and 2 full CD units along with a crapload of mines and pt boats at Shikuka right now. Bring it!!!

RE: The supply was probably mine. Planning on dropping about 1/2 million tons before I am done though. Dont want to have to go to the store for more any time soon :]
