The Fuhrer awards Knights Cross with Swords to valiant U-Boat Ace; Goering promises destruction of American air bandits. Minor reversal on Volga. Newsreel at 11.

Ok, *I* won; but the 6th army is toast. Unless there is an invisible victory hex or two somewhere that I've missed, I can't see any way to pull Von Paulus' can out of the fire.

As for the trucks; I think it was the battle where the Soviets were driving the Rumanians south. For some reason, my armor broke through the T-34s with contemptuous ease; and about five hexes down the road from the north end I kept seeing troops appear from thin air (to be shot up), followed immediately by GAZ trucks which became visible when they tried to retreat (also to die for the Rodina the next instant). If they drove down from the north end, they politely passed a couple of AFVs on the way without being noticed; if they were sitting there all along, I want to hire their camo painter...

You might have too hire the cammo painter :D

The trucks really moved there (unseen)that is if we are speaking about the scenario where the USSR shoots up retreating Romanian forces. If so, how did your armor get to the top of the map so fast?

I heard Rommel wants too know? ;)

It is a hard one to do - save Paulus - but atleast you did not end up in Stalingrad!

Game braches two ways and if the wrong way - trapped without hope in Stalingrad - the right way - on to Winter Storm..

I hoped you all enjoy this campaign and gain insight into what it may have been like for the forces that fought there.

Strictly speaking, the panzers didn't get there that fast; the gepanzert engineers did.
As for how the Russians got blown away so fast, I've discovered that the SiG line of vehicles (especially the 150 L 11 on a Pz II) are amazingly useful for this; they shoot at a tank as they first see it, and it might get abandoned or destroyed. Even if it doesn't, it (and apparently the neighboring tanks, if the platoon is tightly deployed) pick up enough suppression to be lousy shots with terrible reaction time as the Panzer IIIs and IVs move in closer to finish them off.

Of course, those same self propelled infantry guns were unendingly useful in the city fight/assault scenarios. I started off with a platoon of Sigs and a section of flammpanzer IIs, by battle three I had a mixed company of them (they replaced infantry guns). Don't assault a major city without them.

Ok, I guess it's time to go back and look for the hidden victory hex. Once more, back into the Tractor Factory!

I just finished the first battle with a Draw (70xx to 30xx points).
Man these masses of tanks really got me with my pants down  , but I showed them how good German Steel can be :D

Now on the first turn of the second battle, I checked my Airforce and saw there where 2 Do-217 but as I looked at the details I saw a picture of a Hs-123 and as I saw the plane it even looked like a Hs-123???
Should it be that way???

So far the campaign have been fair except for Kurgan hill battle. I broke the Soviet on turn 10, but what is up with the materializing reinforcement? Kills 4 of my infantry squads on the first round. I knows that in Vietnam war, the VC uses tunnel to great effectiveness, but 10+ platoons? Or was transporter beam available in WW2? :D

I don't want to give anything away here about the campaign but the AI appears to move in a certain way and stacks units in 5.0. Did these units appear in gullies or out of houses? Also in play is the new LOS spotting code in 5.0 versions.

Has anyone else noticed AI stacking units as it moves them?

Ok, something gives. I just got finished with the second battle. I surrounded the town with tanks and stugs, rolled in the front with engineers and took the whole bloddy town in 10 turns. Lost one stug to mines and killed every commie on the map. The computer gave me a draw! What is with that. I destroyed those red bastards and eliminated communism from that town and all I get is a stinkin draw? The first batlle was no better, not one of their tanks escaped my wrath, killed 70 AFV to 16 of mine lost, and took all the v-hexes but the 4 at the very bottom of the map and I still got a draw! What do you have to do to get a victory around here?

Do not fret over a draw! I'll try to explain Victory conditions for this battle: Turns.

I suggest to players to save every score or last turn of a battle so that they can re-play the battles.

In battle two - if game ended earilier and German loses were light or game ended on time and German Core force lost very few units - Marginal or decisive should be the result.

What is factored in is - German Loses, Time game ends, and Russian Units. In battle two -the Russki's are merely stalling for time trying to delay the German advance.

You did well with a draw as that would be the Historical result of this action being simulated.

I did place some easy battles in this campaign :D :D

Next point I should mention is the intro text: The Better the win - the more detials of the up coming battle is revealed. Win a decisive and the intel briefing has more info in regards of what to expect next battle but the lower the results - more sparce is the info intel text becomes.

Well, they seems to pop out of gullies and fortify hexes that my units just walk over a turn earlier. And they do appears in groups, usually in company strength in the same hex. BTW, stills got a decisive since I captured the last flag right before they appear :D If it has continued, my forces would have been in trouble since they are spread out all over the hill and would likely beens destroy piecemeal.
