Although we are successful in naval operations around Palembang, our ground forces are ineffective. Instead of grabbing Palembang in the fist day, we’ll need third DA to break Allied resistance. This fills me with dread because there is no telling what damage will this cause to oil and refineries:

Ground combat at Palembang (48,91)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 3425 troops, 114 guns, 4 vehicles, Assault Value = 116

Defending force 1451 troops, 26 guns, 6 vehicles, Assault Value = 42

Japanese adjusted assault: 46

Allied adjusted defense: 25

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 1)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 0

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), forts(+), preparation(-), morale(-)
experience(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
98 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 5 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

Allied ground losses:
180 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 14 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 1 destroyed, 1 disabled

Assaulting units:
Sasebo 8th SNLF
Yokosuka 4th SNLF
3rd Mortar Battalion
5th Mortar Battalion
21th JNAF AF Unit

Defending units:
So.Sumatra Garrison Battalion

RE: 3.1.1942 DESISTER AT PALEMBANG

Post by tomamars »

In Sumatra, our fears finally materialize - Palembang falls but oil is trashed! 180 oil, 204 refinery and 4 resources damaged, this will take ages to repair but I wonder if it’s worth the cost anyway. I’ll repair the oil but not refineries or resources - this will put serious strain on our supply but we have no choice since Japan is losing both 10.000 oil AND fuel a day...

CHINA:

Our daily bombings of enemy airbases continue unopposed while our divisions are approaching Chengchow - long term strategic goal in China is to deny enemy all LI centers in South and Eastern China and gradually push Chinese towards Central plains where we will have our final showdown, hopefully in 1942.
