The family is riding the Union Pacific 844 Steam Engine today from Cheyenne to Denver. No turn until we're back this afternoon. This is the 4th year UP has invited us (my wife is a City Councilwoman for LaSalle) to ride the VIP Train and who can EVER so no to a big steamer??!!
Need to do a comprehensive update. Have got the next 3 days off and intend to cover just about everything I can.
Does anyone have specific things they would like me to Post on? We just finished the September 28, 1944 turn. Want to do the Posting on the October 1st turn.
I am interested in your supply pools around the empire. What do you have in the DEI, in the Singapore area, in China, and on the Home Islands. Also your fuel status. Where is the fuel and how much do you have in cargo ships that you can siphon off to combat ships on the Home Islands.

LOOKS like the enemy is thinking about attacking the Marianas. The boys all have 20,000+ supply at each base, Forts-6, and 100% Prep.

North of Truk
Is this a hand-off or an Invasion? The question plaques Imperial HQ.
Forces have gathered at Truk for the last couple of days and on September 30th they are released to attack. This incoming Allied set of Task Forces is protected nearly 300 Fighters. CRAP! This is just the reinforcement portion coming from the east. We don't talk about 1200+ fighters in the CV TFs coming from the west.
Three strikes are launched and two get fairly crushed but one does get through.
Strikes:
30 Frank and 6 Jills: CRUSHED.
36 Jills (separated from the first strike): Crushed
70 Frank and 22 Judy--18 Judy pierce the CAP.
CVEs Lunga Point and Belleau Wood are their target. TWO big, fat lovely 500 Kg bombs hit the Lunga Point! It isn't enough but it certainly should gain his attention.
Losses for the strikes are 14 Franks, 17 Judy, and 36 Jills. The Franks take down 18 enemy fighters.

NEW MONTH!
Survived another...
Here is the screenshot with the soon-to-be-combined 1.0x10^6. Like said in the last Posting is this a hand-off OR is it an invasion of Babeldoap--Peleliu or the Marianas? Should know within 2-3 days. Pending on movement we may get another shot off at the east portion next turn. Be nice if we can get another attack in before it becomes invulnerable.
On the screenshot you see the three big TK TFs moving AWAY from the action. On a hunch, I split off all the 18-19 Knot Tankers and order them NW for a turn. Pending on what Dan is planning, I just might try to slip these vital ships through to the DEI. Next turn will give me an inclination and the one after that should provide some sort of answer. Figure a 50-50 shot to zip the through before Dan reacts.
The slower TKs move north clearing the area and, nominally, head for Iwo Jima.

Here are lines in China and Indochina. The ORANGE shows active areas along the line.
CHINA
Dan is bombarding and launching occasion Direct Assaults in these regions. The northern line is worrisome in that there is little reserve available. This problem is being remedied as troops move north to bolster contested hexes and create a mobile reserve. Also have troops moving to the southern active area just to be safe. Forts along ANY point of this line are at 5 or 6. It will take a BUNCH to rupture the line!
Japanese Assault
Have decided to take a gamble and attack the China Coastline. Three ID and Two TK Divisions are about to move south and attack that base holding three Allied units. The moment I enter that hex about 1,000,000 4EB will start attacking the units. We'll move in launch an assault--see if there is a chance--and immediately evaluate the opportunity.
Additionally, this is a trap. Dan will bring in one or more of his BB Bombardment TFs. I intend to gather 200 Fighters and 150 TB at Canton and have them set to attack there. Maybe we can get lucky...
INDOCHINA
The counter-offensive launched by Japan has driven the Allies away from the rail-line and things look pretty stable here for the moment. We now have a clear line of retreat when needed.
FORMOSA
As predicted the conquest of Formosa has taken a month. Karenko fell this turn but he'll have to reduce the troops there to surrender. The SW portion still holds and nothing is present in the hex. That attack will also take time. Nothing but good in that I guess.
DESTROYED UNITS
As fast as they come back, I am buying destroyed units so they can be added to the Home Island Defense. They'll have poor experience but provide invaluable strength to various locations along the coast.

With just a little bit of aggression, Dan could really get some big points up north.
Carriers
The two Kido Butai TFs and the Kongo's TF withdraw on the 28th and head for Marcus. A full group of AOs await them to top them off. The CVs are just a day away from Marcus and shall be positioned for action is Dan does assault the Marianas.
STF
A small STF of 2 CA and 3 DD provide the only cover available as the Transports sit exposed for two full days.

We are done loading on October 1st and these are the rescued units: 3 CD units, 7 Base Forces, the 2nd Air Flotilla, and the full strength VETERAN 7th--14th--and 38th Infantry Divisions. DAMN! We're talking nearly 60,000 troops. Did not expect to make it out with everyone. Each base first gained a Regiment or Brigade and then the convoys lifted off the garrison units as well as dropped off supply. The bases are still very strong but their backbone is now moving towards the Home Islands.
