Allied #7, Battle of the North Sea.
Or, how two really dumb tactical errors cancel each other out.
First tactical error, made by the CW, was to even attempt to initiate combat in the North Sea where they had 3 corps and an inf HQ loaded on transports. One of my cardinal rules, which the CW wantonly violated here, is to never, I repeat never, attempt to initiate naval combat in a sea area where you have critical loaded transports/amphibs against an enemy force that has any potential to inflict damage no matter the odds.
Search rolls, RN 8, KM 1. Only the axis find with 8 surprise points.
Second tactical error, which is made by Germany, was not to have used the 4 SPs for a surface combat and then 3 SPs to select Gort's transport. If the KM had done that then they would have had expected results of X,D,A and could have applied the X against the transport loaded with Gort's HQ. The KM would have had a good chance to send Gort's HQ down to the bottom of the North Sea. Losing Gort's HQ and a transport would have been bad enough for the CW, but worse, this would have prevented the CW from deploying any BEF to France in the foreseeable future for lack of an accessible HQ unit. A major disaster. But that's not what the KM did. They attempted a naval air combat. The RN flew both CVP's as fighters. The KM used 4 of their 8 SP's to reduce the air-to-air effectiveness of the two CVP Nimrod units. However, the two Nirmord CVP's still prevailed by forcing the German NAV to abort.
A second round of combat is avoided when both search rolls fail.
Thus, ends the tail of two major tactical errors which cancelled each other out.

Both the Italian LND3 and RN CVP are shot down. The Italians lose their pilot too but the RN manages to rescue their downed pilot.

2. With both corps in Brussels disorganized, that city and Belgium should fall (easily) next impulse.

Italian Wargaming.
El Duce was exerting tremendous pressure on his Field Marshall Graziani to "complete" the capture of Alexandria, Egypt. However, detailed analysis by Italian military planners using their patented "Wargaming" method dissuaded Mussolini from forcing Graziani to force an attack this impulse. Initial odds of +2.833, prior to shore bombardment, ground support, HQ support, put the chance of success at 14% if the CW forced an assault. Though, if the CW army led by Gort was to choose a Blitz the probability rises to almost 35%. BUT, after factoring in everything left possible from both side the odds dropped to +1.895. This would give the Italians less than a 10% chance of success assuming Gort forces an assault.
Bottom line, No attack by Graziani forces on Alexandria this impulse. But given the precious situation of supplying this Italian army through the East Med a try this turn is likely.

French and British land forces move forward to fill the gap between allied and German forces. The RAF rebases a fighter unit to Belgium in support of the two CW corps that moved there.
In the south near the border with Italy, French forces remain on alert against "neutral" Italy which confusingly is at war with the British but not the French.
