Armored Brigade - Cannot Run Free Version

Post by kool_kat »

Gents: [8D]

I downloaded the free version (0812b)today (Apr 18).

I am able to access and manipulate the scenario generation menus - e.g. Forces, Map, Situation, Combat Power Allocation etc.

However, when I select "Done" (Power Allocation Menu) and the game attempts to generate the light shading and load the selected map, I receive the following error message:

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I need to take my Official Support Hat off before answering this.

Takes off the Official Support Hat

I suspect that you have these folders missing:

data\saved
data\cfg
data\graphics\temp

For some reason some file extractors don't create these empty folders.

Game is working now with the missing folders created! [:)]

right click and installing as admin sorts out the permissions and no errors are found or had in windows 10 either, or i've come across any in the past, on the older version anyway, no idea on the new version in the works either, as not on the beta either[:'(]

I recently downloaded the free version just to check out the gameplay. The game runs however when setting up a game i get to the last screen where you have types of units recon, apc, infantry (i think?) and when you click on these there is a window to the far right that is always empty and if you click on done (or was it start) nothing happens.

What am i suppose to do to get the demo/game running?

Thanks.

I am having the same issue. Evidently I can't post links to show you screenshots, but looking at videos and such I notice that my screen looks much different from that of other users I have seen on YouTube. When I choose manual forces, I cannot move the units I wish to use from the "available" to "selected" column. However, if you choose "auto" for both, you can actually load the game, to which I can deploy forces but not start the match. Once again the GUI I noticed in the videos is missing in my game.

I downloaded the game off of IndieDB so perhaps that could be the issue?

I have all of the file directories listed in Post #2.

Please help!

Are you guys talking about the screen below? If so, the units under the Available column in red you don't have Points for. The white units you just click on. The points available are above each type of unit. For example; over Recon I used 53 out of 150. I hope this is helpful....GP

I think in those old versions you need to left-click twice or right-click once to purchase a formation.

The UI was redesigned after the last public build, and another redesign is in progress. If you've made it to the tactical deployment phase, you may need to setup artillery target reference points, helicopter battle positions or obstacles. The commercial version will have in-game tutorial messages, tooltips etc.

Still, how do you start the battle?

L and R click on white units in middle window just alternates between info of unit and image, cannot move it into 'selected' window.

However i did get the demo to work when i selected Auto selection in the main menu. Just had a quick play with it and it seems interesting and look forward to seeing what it plays and looks like after much polishing and such.

Click on "Start". Right side of map, top row of buttons....GP

I don't remember how it was in the ancient UI, but there's probably a "start" button in the right-side panel.

Double left click will put units into the far right box. Single left click will show you what the units make up is....GP

You purchase formations in the left-side 'Available' window.
