New units in Germany at War 1.08

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

The Italian fighters are welcome to the sector of Army Group South. We need fighters everywhere.

It is always considerable being able to use immediately the new units.
The Italian units (L/40 & Macchi C.200) can serve immediately in the Army Group South.

Hi floks,

added Bofors 40mmm for the Fins, Poland will receive its share also.

Yes the Italians are now better equipped for the war in Southern Russia and they have to be if the Soviet onslaught comes from end of 1942 on.

@zakblood:

No, Army General is not going well, in fact Phobetor is for some time now not doing well.

Therefore Army General will be my last historical wargame.
For over ten years now i made and supported these games but in large the players do not like my games and they clearly voted with their wallet against them.
Reasons are plenty, but possible reactions are very few. I chose to make different games from now, try different markets etc.

All the same i will continue to support, fix and expand GaW and AG regulary. E.g. GaW will see the promised Soviet campaign as the German Allies get ready for it.

The support of you guys here and in other places helped me hold fast and i am grateful for it. So this is no good bye - i will be around.

sorry to hear that Ronald [:(]

it's a shame, but seems part of the times atm, with war games in general seeming to be all going the same way, seems the fact that the younger players are more interested in quick action and short games over interesting and more of the long term approach doesn't help much either regarding sales etc

as the market grows in some area's for gaming it shrinks regarding the amount of war game developers, which gets now less and less each year.

wish you look on any new projects in what ever direction you take and thanks again for supporting your past games as always

Hi folks,

added the Bofors 40mm for the Polish army.

@zakblood: Don't be sad, its just the way things are. Defeat is part of accepting a fight. Thanks for the wishes, i will need them anywhere i go in this business. You are welocme on the support side, it will continue quite as usual.

Ronald,
I'm so sorry to hear the news about your games. I love this game and your support has been way above average. I think Matrix did this excellent and still actively supported game a major diservice putting it the "dustbin" of Current Games thereby limiting its' exposure. A basically dead game, Pandora Series, is still up in the New Releases section. Makes no sense to me.
Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

Hi Ronald,

Market is a tricky thing and something that is not "bad" by itself sometimes does not sell. But then a few modders can give a second life to a game.

thanks for your past and present support as well as your wishes. Matrix/Slitherine will do what is best for Matrix/Slitherine - no matter whatever definition of "best" is used. I think thats quite natural in a free market. If they think GaW serves them best here, they put it here, if they change their mind it might end up in a better spot. It felt a bit arbitrary but then again i am not part of their strategic hq that manages many more games thus having other priorities i guess.

sure, those things are different discussions, market success and product quality though both are linked. If you and terminator continue your work, GaW might get immortal :-D

hi Ken, thanks for your support, as you often cheered me up here and were even crazy enough to show up on our Facebook page. Its nice to hear you like the games, thats what we make them for. Fun.

Finally a general thanks for all the others that contributed in one or the other way.

We will have a lot of fun with Germany at War with the things to come. For example the Soviets will be ready for their deadly counter blows some day in the near future.

Hi folks,

@36142CP thanks

@terminator: The Brits will get the bofors in a later update. As for the Hungarians: i have not found historical proof their army has officially adapted that cannon. Will add it if you can find some (WitE is usually well researched (and a great game btw.) - still not a source like i have in mind).

To answer this question, it requires a new thread.
