UPDATE4 - other

Post by Peter Fisla »

Hi All,

As I'm working on the UPDATE4, I have done the following so far:

1) OBA fire accuracy has been improved by 50%, OBA will be a a bit more deadly now
2) Word "broken" is now only associated with personnel units only, when a support weapon/ordnance/AFV weapon breaks its now marked as "malfunctioned".
3) Fixed a bug: German 75mm PAK 40 can now fire from a building
4) Fixed a bug: Pzkpfw IVF1 the counter art sprite now shows short barrel (instead of long)
5) Fixed a bug: a AI personnel units were not routing sometimes
6) User can now place text label in a hex, previously mentioned on the forum already
7) Manual updates with new features

Currently working major feature: providing AI target hex probability hit of success information to human player selected unit(s).

Thanks for your efforts, Peter! [&o]

1) Great for a human player, but AI-controlled OBA will be even more deadly: currently it fires as if it were directed by a RPV orbiting above the battlefield.

2,3,4,5 and 7) Good

6) Someone may call it "chrome", but I think this is a very nice touch!

Any chance to see the AI-controlled infantry firing even when its FP is halved?

No ETA just yet gents, I work on the update when I have time. The OBA changes apply to both human and AI.

Modifying AI to support long range fire will take some effort, it could potentially be a bigger change that affects all AI personnel units/support weapons fire so detailed analysis is required, No comment on this yet. You see there is a disadvantage on AI firing with personnel fire long range, sure you can trigger the AI to respond but then when the human player pops in at short range the AI will be at a disadvantage. This requires careful analysis, I will look into it.
