Cantigas de Sevilla. A bit of medieval music. [:)]

Putting together some great music ideal for wargaming and this one is right up there. For those that remember - and were left a blubbering wreck by - Samuel Barber's Adagio For Strings (used in Platoon), I give you the Ferry Corsten remix. All the heartbreaking, tear-jerking splendour of the original - minus the orgasmic ending, its true, but plus a superb synth / drum addition. Just sit back and imagine Panzer IV's rolling across the Ukrainian steppe or 14-inch gunned battleships at full speed, gunners in the turrets - oblivious to all that is going on around them - working like mad to get their lumps of metal fired into the air and at the enemy as quickly as possible.

Back to Game of Thrones for my next offering. You really need to have seen the episode from which this came for the music to have its full effect [:)]. Wonderful ending (to the music that is [;)]).

Not sure about the overall quality of the new Arcade Fire album - but early days. However, this one is a wonderfully dreamy catchy classic-in-the-making sung by Regine Chassagne [&o]

The third of four outstanding tracks from this album - I like that it turns into Michael Jackson's Thriller in the last minute [:)]

Don't think much of the video though [:(]

On reflection this is actually a really good toon - or is it nostalgia? - probably a bit of both. I never properly appreciated it before (was not a fan of the Boomtown Rats back in the day) - although liked listening to the Classic Rock (or was it Rock Classics?) version. Sad story behind it too which I've just re-read about - Spencer is still in prison to this day.

Downloaded - thanks shunwick for that unexpectedly interesting trip down memory lane.
