How to capture abandoned SWs ?

Post by PDiFolco »

Hi
Can't find if/how/when you can pick up abandoned light SWs (like MGs), and if it is possible to capture enemy SWs
I thought it was in the Admin phase, but can't make it to work...

You cannot capture enemy SW (it's a pity, especially when you play Russians an there are all those abandoned PF around [:D]).

You can pick up SW abandoned SW in two ways:
- in the administrative segment, units in the same hex with an abandoned SW will attempt to pick it up: you have no control about who picks up what.
- in the movement segment, a unit in the same hex with an abandoned SW and with at least 1 MF remaining may attempt to pick up a SW: click on the "Recover SW" button, then click on the abandoned SW and on the unit you wish to assign the SW.

That is a pity...I never played ASL, but in SL I seem to remember you could do this. The only catch was if a captured enemy SW malfunctioned, you couldn't repair it, it was just gone for good. Would love to see this option in a future update.

Both SL and ASL allow capturing enemy SW.

I especially appreciated capturing Panzerfausts with Russians [:D]: even with the captured penalty, they were much more useful than those damned PTRDs. Unfortunately, in ASL PF become inherent to German squads and you cannot capture them [:(].
