Basic Training: Warship Operations

Post by britten »

I just bought C:NI only few hours ago. I went straight to Tutorial on Warship Operations.

1) Using log messages only I was able to understand some of the interface rules and finish it with positive score. That tutorial is very well prepared, I must say.

I have a few questions.

2) How can I find details about what exactly (f.e. destroying which specific hostile unit) prompted my score change ?

3) When I assigned my ship to engage unit mission, he moved some distance and then he stucked (0 knots) at some island (like in a picture below). At this point, I had to manually disable its mission, set a path to move around that island and assign that warship again to engage enemy mission. Have I done something wrong there or that ship being stuck on that island is a bug?

4) My USS Stockdale ship fired several RIM-162A missles to counter some guided missles fired from hostile Nanuchka corvette. After moving close to then, they were ALL blinded (example in a picture below). Can anyone give a hint what actually happened? Why they were blinded? Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure what types of those red missles were.

Thank you kindly for any help.

Hi, I'm new to the game too, so I can only help you with Qn.2. I think you need to load the game in the editor mode, then go to the event editor to see what the creator of the scenario set to prompt the score change.

4) Typically a ship will fire more than one SAM at a target (you can tell how many missiles are locked on to a specific target by the little number above and to the left of the target) If the target is destroyed, any missiles in the air that were aimed for that target will then go "blind" because their target is now gone.

Another possibility is that two inbound missiles in that picture are both contacts that have not been updated for 8 and 11 seconds respectively. That could mean that the SAMs are no longer tracking them because the radar guiding them lost contact, and therefore the SAMs are "blind" because they can't find the targets anymore.

more specifically SARH missiles always go blind when there is no illumination being provided by their host fire control radar. that could be for many reasons:

1. the FCR lost track
2. the FCR has been damaged/destroyed
3. the target no longer exists
4. the FCR has switched targets and the new target is not within the seekerhead LOS-cone of the missile
5. illuminating the target has become impossible due to LOS/distance/weather/etc
6. probably there's more

Got it, so there are plenty of reasons and most of them could actually happen during my game. Thank you for all answers.

Now I only wonder about question 3). I'll probably try to recreate it and make some more screenshots.

Oh, it's not a comfortable feature then. It's definitely should be more convenient to check. Thanks.

(...)2) How can I find details about what exactly (f.e. destroying which specific hostile unit) prompted my score change ?

In the menu, select Game, then Scoring and click on the Scoring Log Tab, you'll get details such as :
