Airbourne Pincer movementUnits

Post by EvilWeevil »

Just had a marvellous situation arise in WIR v3.3 '41 campaign. I'm playing as Russian.

It's now the begining of August '42, the German '42 Summer offensive is only 3 weeks old. I've retreated the whole of my first defensive line 5 hexes to just in front of the 2nd defensive line, as some Panzer Korps had broken through in places in the South of the first defensive line. End of my order phase.

Now the AI, does it turn. I get back to my order phase. First thing I notice that the German offensive in the South is a diversionary attack, because it appears the Germans have parachuted a Panzer Korp  4 hexes behind my defensive lines, which are unbroken. This Panzer korp is only 1 hex from Moscow.

The Panzer Korp is in a supply of 6, wtf?!?!?!

I've saved the game at this point and a screenshot if anyone wants a look.
I didn't know it then, but looking back, in hindsight, I realize that when I was younger I could see into the future. Now I'm getting all my premonitions as flashbacks!

Please do. It would be quite a treat to watch Pz-IIIjs and Pz-IVgs being parachuted behind the enemy lines.:D

Here's the screenshot. When an enemy unit appears out of the blue a few hexes behind dug in units, something is amiss.

There's only one solution to this.

PBEM! ;)

I haven't heard of it with the AI for the Germans, but it is a known problem where the AI runs the Soviets. Anyway, there are examples in hand alredy from that side, so I don't think we need anything from the dastardly Hun side also. A good trick though, isn't it ;-) ?

Yeah, I want to do that:) How many transports do I need for a good strong tank army to be parachuted with full supply? I could use that on german supply roads:)
