Help Bingeling! Anyone. Please explain this.

Post by Blabsawaw22 »

Ok I started Pirate game.

From the Start of the game I turned off "trade with other empires", in the Policy Screen.

I have since only built a few mines and such. What I want to know is why are my frieghters buying 60,000 worth of resources? for What!?

Sometimes this happens and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Would this still happen if I turned on "trade with other empires"? I think in the past that still happens even when I tick that on. But I'll have to see.

Here is the photos showing my unfulfilled and in transit etc.. So why does my private sector think I need 60,000 of resources when I have virtually nothing and only $-19,111 money!?

I must be missing something simple right in front of me right?

thanks.

Also I should mention I find some of my freighters going out of the way to independent colonies that I have nothing to do with, and they are getting hydrogen. I have plenty of my own already and My own hydrogen mines.

He has no cargo heading to the independent colony so that means he is buying hydrogen.. But I have plenty as you can see in my pictures above. (my stock)

I do not know, but I can guess that "Trade with other empires" maybe does not work with pirates?

Also, the AI is not easy to understand when it comes to what it transports and when. Added to this, I have probably spent a total of 30 minutes playing as pirate, it does not appeal to me at all.

Erm, not in the game and just guessing but wasn't that just to prevent tech trading?

Ok I didn't know you didn't like pirate play so much.

The end goal essentially turns you into an empire anyway once you build a pirate fortress and network you become an empire.

Anyway I will reload a save and try the same thing with "trade with other empires" turned on and watch the results.

And no it does not mean trade tech by the way. - I believe it had to do with letting other empires come to pick up your resources out of your mines and star base. So if you want to keep your resources and not have anyone take them, you turn off "trade with other empires"

And regardless if it's pirate play or not, I'll try the same thing with a standard empire game and I'm sure my freighters will go rushing to pick up (buy) resources from some far away colony when I have plenty of hydrogen.

Anyway thanks.

Precisely.

Turning off trade with other empires only prevents you (and AI empires) from trading technology with each other. Standard economy working still applies. So if you have steel, and empire B needs it, you will continue to sell it to them.

Also what you think is enough Hydrogen isn't the same as what the AI thinks is enough.

what!? Ok to be very clear, I remember reading and finding out that the "trade with other empires" option in the Policy
Screen, turns OFF other empires coming to take your resources away from your starbases.

It's like performing a trade blockade on all empires!

Now, It may also include not trading tech, but I thought it was used to keep your resources from being traded away, because lets say you want to build 200+ ships. So you will need all the resources you have.

I will now test this in game. I'll be back in a few hours!

on another completely different note, I can try building no freighters and only gas/mining ships to mine away at planets, and then my freighters won't go off buying resources! haha solution!!

I do understand that, but with the current AI moves, It causes itself to go broke at all costs! so its completely flawed AI then after how many patches?
