Toowoomba better be on the map or, or..., or..., .... I do not or what but I am sure I will come up with something suitable. I am just to shocked by the idea that Toowoomba might be excluded by the greatest game ever.ORIGINAL: warspite1

So can it be played solitaire? My buddys probably wouldn't be up to a game this big/complex

This game is eminently suited to solitaire thanks to its game mechanics. Replayability is limitless because of the way the game makers have structured the game. A player simply cannot take everything for granted - just like a real commander. Weather, turn length, ability to move units, who moves first? All these things and more are up in the air (although for some of them its the player that has choices to make). This feature makes the game more than suitable for solitaire. There is no Fog of War (which would mean solitaire was not ideal) - for a Strategic level game there doesn't need to be and so this does not hinder the game either.
Hope that helps.

The game is a monster to play solitaire but I've done it several times with older version and it was lots of fun. You just need space, time, and the game, and you can have a lot of fun.

So how do you play it solitare? Is it like most where dice rolls dictate the other nations or do i play both sides?

Yes, you would need to take command of both sides.

Fair enough. Its a big outlay so you need to be sure. If there is anything that you want to ask please do so.
One thing though, just so I understand, what do you mean about 'its solitaire play does put me off a bit'?
Thanks

I have the Matrix informatic version of this game, thanks also to the persuasions of Warspite. I like it and don't like it, but think that WITPAE is superior, in particular for the details.
I understand though that the cardboard table version of the game must be times more enjoyable, and many times more if played human against human(s). (Thing impossible for me moment being).
But come on that price. It requires a multi annual financial planning.

That Price? I feel from that statement that you believe buying this game would put you at a distinct pecuniary disadvantage? Well if so, I don't think you understand the value for money that this game truly provides. I mean seriously, how many visits to sundry talkative Chilean prostitutes would it take to equal the layout on WIF?

Besides, why are they closing the series?
The game still needs and calls for develoment.
Every additional optional rule helps. Helps in a greater detailed game.
Think for example at the big airplane formations/units (meant to about 250 planes, manual rules). They are based and operate without any "support unit", as opposed to our game here WITPAE. Some betterment was made by creating optional rule for combat engineers, but still ways and road to walk and progress.
One possible answer is that Mr Rawlins may be tired...

Oh no, that I hope to do with my wife, cheaper you know...
