Naval Attack vs Submarines

Post by insecttoid3 »

If I set fighters on the west coast to naval attack, will they ever target submarines that my search planes spot? Or will they only go after surface vessels?

Only surface TFs are targetted by Naval Attack.
Planes on Naval Search will occasionally bomb subs, but ASW is more efficient with respect to actual bombing.

Thanks. I was looking for something useful for my fighters to do besides training while waiting to ship to pearl, but I guess I'll just stick with training then.

To round out my fighters usefulness and bump up their Experience and Defensive skills, I train them for a couple of weeks each in Low G and Low Nav attack at 1000 feet. Strafing skill is usually reasonably good already so I don't do much more of that.

Airacobras are apparently good at barge-busting. P-40s can do a number on vessels up to cruiser size with their 500 lb. bombs, but AA makes warships tough targets. Transports and tankers are another matter.
