USSR MPP's V1.08

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

USSR MPP's V1.08

Post by Guderian1940 »

In regards to some issues with a weakened GE in USSR.

The supply rules had to be changed since they did not make sense and I believe this would result in other needed changes to compensate the GE for the capability hit. The GE have a tough time in the USSR and a good strategy is imperative. As mentioned in other posts you cannot have a broad front approach like in earlier version. Was fun for the GE but demoralized any USSR player.

With the supply changes was an increase in USSR MPP's. I think the changes were too high as the USSR can tech up and build more units than was possible before. Facing tech 2 ground, 2 AA tech Soviet units is tough. And tech 2 Air. This is possible, with a little luck, with the increased MPP's. I think this should be scaled back. Receiving 250 point in Jan 1941 is too much. I think it should be reduced to a level where you cannot tech up each turn and have points to upgrade.

I just think that it is having a major impact on balance for the first months before the invasion.

IMHO.

Change the USA supplies to USSR from 2 to 1 ratio to 1 to 1 ratio.

This is what I can't get my head around. From what I've read most PBEM games were very close to 50/50 on who won. So why was the allied player demoralized at a 50% chance to win? Do they expect to win all the time because that was "more historic"?

The issue I have is with MPP's received prior to the invasion. Not sure that there is also an issue after.

Goodmongo,

I don't know if you played the game with the early versions, 1.0 till the changes were made, but the Germans were extremely difficult to stop against competent players. If Moscow was not taken in 41 it was in 42, as well as Leningrad and on their way to the Caucasus.
They just ran over everything at will. Their supply was too good. That's the demoralizing part. It was not a 50-50 game situation with two competent players. Whatever strategy you chose it was not going to work. The earlier version had issues and the wise designers realized that. Now there is another adjustment to do IMHO.
