Transports with sixth sense

Post by Mike_B20 »

Sorry if this has been brought up before.

Sometimes when a transport TF is approaching an enemy carrier TF the message "Tasforce is retreating from enemy carriers" comes up, even when there have been no sightings of the carriers.

It is possible using this bug to 'game' the system by posting transport TF's as sentries to warn of approaching enemy carriers.

Also it is really frustrating that this message is visible by both players during the combat save. In my last game my opponent got the "advanced warrning" about my invasion of Lunga.
His search planes didn't find me but he got the "retreating from carriers" message with the convenient count of exactly how much TFs I have approaching.
I'm not sure he should have seen this, especially since nothing was detected by his search planes.

The same happens for surface combat forces. Whenever they approach a port where there's a transport TF anchored (and set to "Retreat", there will be a warning and the AP will disappear from the hex.

To me this always meant that the attacking TF's HAD been detected. But as ship movements happen BEFORE the air ops phase, the reaction moves need to be done before the sighting is announced. Same happens sometimes with reaction moves by carriers to other CV's.

But if it happens regardless of whether the approaching TF is really detected in the later air ops phase this might be a bug.
