With all German planes used and many of German ships destroyed/damaged/disorganized CW sent juicy amount of targets to North Sea. They will land somewhere this turn. If there is no attack to minor countries, some of them will go to France.

It would have been nice to pass with all nations and end the turn. But, alas, that will just remain a nice dream. I suspect that both China and CW wants to move.
/////
I suspect that Germany plans to make a late turn attack on Netherlands. That Germany wants the CW forces in the North Sea committed to France so that they can not interfere, before they make a DOW. Or that Germany waits until it is likely the last impulse of the turn so that they get Rotterdam by conquest.
Maybe the HQI (Gort), only, should land in France this impulse. The other units in the North Sea wait until Germany commits. If the turn ends then, at least, a couple of loaded transporters can return to base to France. This way we put some pressure on Germany. Either Germany takes a risk that the turn ends before they commit, or they take a risk that CW forces will disrupt their plan by occupying Rotterdam (or Antwerp).

Looks like we same intelligence officers. I see the situation the same as you.
I'm OK with full pass, but that is a long shot.
Chinese should move. Late in turn I try to move Chinese CAV div to one hex hoping to move first next turn. Nationalist will move to protect Com Chinese flank.
What should we do with Italy? Do we let them DoW us or should I place CV so that CW can port strike La Spezia? I think it would be good to force them to DoW to get more US entry chits.

I generally do not feel lucky with passing. It was just tempting because the lack of convoy points to transport the Swedish resources. But with the French cruiser there, that might be able to hurt the convoy anyway, I think it is better if we move. China r4eally needs to move and I think it might be a good idea to let Gort disembark and set up the HQ in France.
I do not mind waiting, at least, one more turn for pressuring Italy into the war. I am quite comfortable with them neutral. Nice to not needing to worry about their submarines or naval bombers. And I am not sure I like us to do the declaration of war either. Fairly decent US entry chits and USSR has more naughty ideas that may cost us some valuable entry chits. There is an entire Soviet Army Group just waiting to get a green light to welcome Persia into the Communist family. And the door is still open for a Finnish invitation as well. So USSR prefer if the Western Allies play nice.

CW and US combined, China land.

Debark
US HQ to Honolulu
US MOT ENG to Midway
US MOT AA to Honolulu
CW HQ to Calais
Rebase

CW HQ to Calais
Maybe Boulogne instead? To leave Calais open for other CW forces that might arrive later?

You are right about Boulogne, land HQ there.
About China, maybe INF from Changsha only to mountains because it gets disorganized? Double move is very unlikely.

Double moves are never likely but they do happen. And the initiative markers location increase the odds for a double move. However, my thinking was that if we pass our next impulse, then a double move becomes likely.
I'll ponder on this some more during the day.

Indeed.
I just want to be as prepared as possible if they do not declare war on Netherlands (or Belgium). Doesn't hurt to try and change their time schedule, or planning.
Anyway. I will post my thoughts on China later today and then you have to decide on what route to proceed. And if we decide to pass I think it should be a joint decision. I am not all that fond of passing, but from time to time it doesn't hurt to throw in a pass early to make the opponent insecure.

RE: NORDIC CHANNEL: Orm and Mayhemizer
well, since I wanted to ask both of you a non-MWiF question, I hope you don't mind if I borrow this thread for a post and response or two
so my sister helped my Dad translate some old family letters from the original Finnish. this revealed where the Finn half of my father's family came from in Finland - a village called Lehmäjoki, a bit east of Vaasa
If I recall some vauge discoverings of Finnish history on my part (which I hope to expand in future years), this is perhaps a somewhat Swedish area of Finland, with the highest concentration of Swedish speakers, say, back in the 19th Century and earlier?
and thus ?maybe? my ancestry could be as much Swedish as Finnish, but perhaps this would be revealed more surely by actual last name. mine is definitively a Finnish name which would translate to English as "Laker" - totally non-descript given how many lakes there are in Finland
any thoughts appreciated. I follow whatever the small village sometimes posts on Facebook, which is generally just the best work of a good local photographer there

Interesting to hear. I bet that "Laker" is translated from word "Järvinen" or "Järvelä".
Vaasa area was (and still is) populated by Swedish speakers. If you have roots in Finland, you most likely have roots in Sweden too. I have roots in Sweden also. (Roots in Russia are also common, I got them too).

yes, the first translation. thanks for the reminder on the umlaut. I should use that with a few people to mess with them.
I don't think we will end up tracing much ancestry beyond knowing the village name, we'll see. I am on the way out to a remote job-site that is near where folks from there first entered the USA - in the Great Lakes, not on the Atlantic coast. I might go visit some of the graves next week.

RE: NORDIC CHANNEL: Orm and Mayhemizer
If you know their name, when they were born, and in what village they were born then you have a decent chance of researching your ancestry further back. That is if the village church didn't burn and got their records destroyed. population registration begun very early in Sweden, and Finland. And in Finland it continued after the separation from Sweden. So church records might show your ancestry a hundred years back or even more. The main trouble here is reading them. But I suspect that those pages have been scanned (or will be scanned) and made available on the internet. And I do think that there are organizations in US that help with such research.ORIGINAL: brian brian
