Army Group South historical

Post by AngrySwan »

It is June 22, 1941 and army groups South and Antonescu prepare for an attack. The final objective is the Volga and Caucasus.
This can be seen as a part of the Arkhangelsk-Astrakhan campaign or a historical one.

Most scenarios are the existing ones but some are missiong and need to be created:
- Lwow 1941
- Kishinev 1941
- Uman 1941
- Kiev 1941 (AGS fights together with a tank army from AGC, including 4 tank divisions, 2 motorised divisions and a cavalry division)
- Melitopol 1941
- Crimea 1941
- Rostov 1941
- Voronezh 1942
- Rostov 1942 (because historically Soviets took Rostov back in 1941)
- Drive on Stalingrad
- Caucasus/Maikop

This campaign can also include a Sevastopol scenario that does not exist yet and the second Kharkov battle. This was a very interesting battle because both sides were on the offensive.

I did not include any 1942 scenarios in the 1941 campaign because taking Moscow is a fitting end to 1941. This will be a separate campaign.

Good idea,
Why not to add the first battle of Kharkov ?
The 1st Battle of Kharkov, so named by Wilhelm Keitel, was the 1941 tactical battle for the city of Kharkov (now Kharkiv) (Ukrainian SSR) during the final phase of Operation Barbarossa between the German 6th Army of Army Group South and the Soviet Southwestern Front. The Soviet 38th Army was ordered to defend the city while its factories were dismantled for relocation farther east.
The German 6th Army needed to take the city in order to close the widening gap to the German 17th Army. By 20 October the Germans had reached the western edge of the city, it was taken by the 57th Infantry Division by 24 October. At that time, however, most of Kharkov's industrial equipment, such as factory machines, had been evacuated or rendered useless by the Soviet authorities.

Hi terminator,

I am not sure if strategic bombing can be simulated in Germany at War but it is an interesting idea to bomb the railroads/bridges and make the Soviets destroy their own factories which they will miss in 1942. The best idea would be capturing them but making the Soviets destroy their own production capacity is second best.
