Re second PH strike

Sid tried to simulate Dec 7 surprise by disbaling all TUBES in AA units in PH at start. However, the tubes are painfully slow to undisable on the following turns and they should be still 97-99% disbaled on turn two. You only face CAP over PH, and no flak.
Here's the second day strike, or at least the first of three on day 2 and there's only a single aircraft shot down by
flak. Proof that you're correct. I was all through with my strikes but it's good to know that the AA was nerfed in
case I wanted another strike.

I lose 20-22 Zeros due to flak in scenario 100 each time I replay the first turn, while in the RL the total Zero loss (shot down, accidents, AA) was 9. You lose almost none in RHS II. Seems neither stock nor RHS got the PH flak right. Go figure.

Now I'm planning my ASW spots and spotter plane deployment and the best places to put an Allied sub, where the
choke points are and so on. I've noticed that some of my bases have an overage of goodies but some of them are
not balanced as to RES and LI and I'm going to have to supply some RES to those places I'm thinking. I'm going
through the industry display looking for unbalanced RES to LI places and I'm finding quite a few of them. Not
just the dot hexes in the south pacific either. Chichi-jima looks like it's going to need a shipment soon.

Kota Bharu got bombarded by Jap ships last night and when the ships left there were over 3K fires and there's
still fires burning this morning. The LI facilities were damaged but the RES center is still viable. I need
some more people yet there before I can capture the base I think.

I'm posting this image to show the Allied ships fleeing south near Borneo. They probably came from Manila and they
are probably heading for Balikpapan or Soerajaba.

EDIT: In hindsight I should probably have some ships over that direction to contest their passage. I think I was
concentrating on the invasions I neglected to drive some ships over that direction and as a result the Allies are
getting free passage. D'oh

Here's what's happening near the Rabaul area. I've made landings but the one at KaIveing seems to be in trouble. I think
I may need some more people to make that one work. I've already started prepping the unit(s) that are going to assault
Port Moresby. I think I may need it for a staging base in case I get a chance to invade OZ.

Here's the PI now. I've captured Vigan and Legaspi and I'm moving on Manila. It's too early to predict when it will fall.

I set some LCU's in motion in China but it's too early to see them physically move. This is the situation in
south China. I see some Allied ships probably worth going after. Most of the Chinese Junks on the rivers are carrying RES to the more populous production centers like Shanghi. And from Shanghi they go to Nagasaki and contribute to the totals. I can see how people would think it rediculously easy to meet Japan's RES requirement
even in the home islands.

Here's a shot of the Port Arthur - Nagasaki area now. I've been sending a lot of ships to Keijo and RES is moving by the
boat-full from there. Most of it's going to Nagasaki's port since it's the most convienient. I have no idea how much
RES is flowing to Nagasaki but it's a lot. I suppose I could find all the ships making the trip and add them all up or
something. I'll have to post something about the trips.

Here's all the invasion TF's and where they are going. Some of them are already there. Some of them are unloading at
their targets. Some of them are loading troops still. It's an ongoing process so far.

I finally received some moves from Brian and I watched the combat replay and was amazed how realistic it is.

Anyway, I'm going through the Tracker alerts and then I decided to take a look at the industry and here's

how it's going right now. There's a box in the lower right that's called "Dry Docks" and I'm not sure what

the box "Dry Docks" is trying to tell me. Anybody got a clue?

Here's the synopsis of the Honsu island group reguarding oil and RES and as you can see the levels are dropping
in the home islands. I've begun shipping all the supplies and fuel that will fit on a ship to the major hubs
so that there might not be a stop to the logistical flow for lack of goodies somewhere. Most of the transports
are only just now arriving at their destinations to pick up the goodies and start the flow. I'll show you a
post about the shipping.

Here's all the dedicated CS routes operating right now. A lot of that Nagasaki traffic is boats leaving Port
Arthur and Keijo with goodies. There's a lot of good stuff inbound to the home islands. And there's manual
traffic in addition to this so it's all good.

I'm doing a cut and paste of the "Human" routes and I've sorted the list on destination and alphabetically and
this list is just up to the letter "M". There's a lot more where this list came from. And I'm thinking that
at least half the ships are completely empty. Deadheading back to the source. I DO carry goodies both ways
on a few of the trips but not many.

I finally subdued the Guam garrison and captured the hex. And I made some landings at Makin and the shock attack
captured the place. And some old contested places fell finally.

Resources and Oil back to Home Islands, only. In your initial expansion you need to focus on oil rich bases. If your needing to bring back supplies, then slow down your repairs of facilities. Focus on airframes and engines for '42 in Dec '41. Halt subs that are going to take more than 3 to 4 months to complete to save points there.

I found a gold mine at Port Arthur for oil and RES from there as well. RHS has supplied
all kinds of places to get RES. RES isn't a problem I don't hink.

In your initial expansion you need to focus on oil rich bases.
I need to spend some time with the map to find all the enemy oil centers and task them with
some kind of planned invasion soon. I've already landed at Miri and the troops that finish
off Miri are going to move next door to Brunei to grab that too. I've got big plans for
Palembang and Balikpapan and Tarakan. They are on my list too. I'm willing to forgo any
plans in the South Pacific if I can grab Java early. That would be cool.
ORIGINAL: ny59giants

It's a good idea, thanks. I haven't yet looked deeply into repairing any facilities. I
thought I'd let the levels stabilize somewhat before I began making a lot of changes.
But it's been three days already and I think the levels are just about as stable as
they are going to get and I can start repairs now. I'm really planning on boosting
the Merch and Nav shipyards so I can accellerate a ship or two. And the repair of
the aircraft factories is a priority. I need to start pumping out airplanes. I started
to say that it almost doesn't matter what kind right now. But I thought twice about that.
ORIGINAL: ny59giants
Focus on airframes and engines for '42 in Dec '41.
I see your point and I agree it's a good one. Look ahead, plan ahead, I like it. I've
given some thought to making only Zero's and Oscars and forget about the other kinds of
fighters. And concentrate on the Betty and Nell and drop all the other kinds of planes.
I'll need Glens of course and spotter planes but I'm talking about the fighters and the
bombers. The less kinds of planes I make the fewer engine types I need make. It's a win-win.
ORIGINAL: ny59giants
Halt subs that are going to take more than 3 to 4 months to complete to save points there.
I've already shut off any ship building past about May of '45 and I like the idea of
shutting off the later model subs. I'll never be able to use them to my advantage because
by then ( '43 -'44 ) the Allies will come out with their super-ASW platforms and my subs
will be useless. I get the picture.

There's a situation developing near Truk. An Allied TF is slowly making it's way passing SW of Truk moving
toward Kaiveng and I don't know much about it. It's supposedly a single ship but FOW might be misleading me.
I'm taking no chances and I've tasked an ad hoc TF to chase it. I've got transports in that area and I don't
need the extra hassle and worry this brings.
