Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.
From the manual I was under the impression that a fortified zone could attach up to 3 support units of any type. However in my current game (battleground Italy scenario under .68) on one particular fortified unit I managed to attach 4 units, with the option to attach more. Meanwhile on some of my other fortified units I could only attach 1 support unit. I'm not sure if this is a bug or working as designed?? (to me the behavior seems inconsistent)
Images of unit in question attached (all support units are construction battalions)
It appears that the game allows any number of construction units (at least more than 3) to be attached to forts but only one non-construction unit (and once a non-construction unit is attached, no other units of any kind can be attached). I don't remember this being an intentional change, but it's been that way at least since 1.01.01 when we made some changes to attachments. It's possible that part of this was intended, although I don't think allowing unlimited construction unit attachments was ever intended. We'll discuss this and likely make a change in a future update. Thanks for the report.
All understanding comes after the fact.
