Finnish War Entry

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

The manual is pretty clear about research. See Section9.0. It says 2% to 7% per turn per chit with average 5%. Without the 45% breakthrough or any synchronization help with allies this means with 17 turns per year about 13.5 months or so for a tech upgrade with only one chit. My gut feeling based on 10 or so games but no measurement is a one chit upgrade takes about a year.

Anyone else have a different gut feeling or measured response?

But how does the breakthrough chance progress going from Intelligence tech 1 to 2 to 3 etc.? The manual is not clear about that. Or is it only the first level that changes that? Do further levels only help vs. the opposing faction?

It says 2% to 7% per turn per chit with average 5%

As you might see, this can obviously be diminished by the enemies developement of Int.. If this description is right, every difference in lvl of Int. reduces enemy research by 1 and speeds own research by also 1%, leading to a difference of 2% per lvl.

As I already mentioned, in my experience my Axis will reach the latest lvl of any 5 chit research by late 43, achieving 4-5 lvl, i.e. 1/year on average. This way I`m almost always certain to be ahead of the Allies, mostly 1-2 lvl.

I still don't understand how the breakthrough chance changes (or not) with increased levels in Intelligence tech, though...

Yes, it applies at all tech levels, and researching all categories. [:)]

Update: it increases your progress towards 100%, at all levels and in all categories, not your chance of breakthroughs.

So it's only the first level of Intelligence tech that has any effect on breakthroughs?

I've been getting a bit confused here too, so I'll start again from scratch here: [:)]

Spying & Intelligence increases your research progress towards 100%, at all levels and in all categories.

If your level of Spying & Intelligence is higher than any of your opponents', then it will also increase by 1% per level that you are higher than the enemy, your chance of a breakthrough.

Hopefully that makes more sense and helps answer the question?

Thanks, that's helpful - so is there a always some chance of a breakthrough above the 45% level, even with no Intelligence tech?
