Why can't I upgrade my UK CL to the next AS level?

Hi,

I am playing a v1.09.09 Beta PBEM++ game, and I don't understand why I can't upgrade one CL to the next AS level that my research has already attained.

I was able to upgrade to the highest level I have available (level 3) with other UK ships in other UK ports...but for some unknown reason, I couldn't do it Plymouth and I think in London too with another CL...



Can anyone explain this?

Hi CC1,

There is a max research level that can be attained for a particular category, and then there is the possibility of varying maximum upgrade levels for certain unit types which can be lower.

In this case, the max research level for ASW is 5, but the maximum upgrade level for a BB, CL and so on is 2, while for Destroyers and Carriers it is 5.

This make sense as it would be better to upgrade destroyers rather than heavier capital ships.
