UPDATE 4 - fire target evaluation feature

Post by Peter Fisla »

SO here is an example of the fire target evaluation feature that I'm currently working on for the UPDATE 4.

Here a picture shows of German StuG IIIB evaluating target with enemy hex that contains: personnel, ordnance with crew and vehicle.

How this works: the user selects the StuGIIIB in one of the fire segments and clicks with middle mouse button on the target hex. Note though if a weapon run out of ammo, example if the StuGIIIB already run out of HEAT special ammo then the information will not be displayed. Also if the StuGIIIB already fired in the current fire segment and can't fire anymore then target info window will not display anything. So in a way, using this feature you can show if the StuGIIIB still has HEAT round to fire. To close the window, the user can either hit the ESC key on the keyboard or simply left click with mouse anywhere inside the window.

Please note that this feature is still work in progress, this is not the final graphics.

Two questions:

1) Will critical hits be taken into account?
2) Will this feature be present for infantry fire?

1) Critical Hit might happen during the actual fire event, not when you are trying to analyze a target.
2) Yes, including situations like ATR/PF/PSK/Bazooka/PIAT/MOL-P/Light Mortar vs AFV. As of now I have ordnance and vehicles working.

In the situations above you can see that SutGIIIB when using AP round has 75% to actually hit and 83% chance to kill BT-5 AFV through rear, however when using HEAT round if you hit you have 100% chance to penetrate the rear of BT-5 AFV.
