Back after a long time - Need memory jolt about Pilot Experience

Post by OG_Gleep »

Took a long break from UV and decided to give it another go, and want to get started with the right game plan.

What is the best method to train each of the different plane types in scen 17 as the US?

Fighters
Fighter - Bombers
Dive Bombers
Torpedo Bombers
CV Fighters

And what kind of gain per turn/over time should I expect?

The one thing that really stuck was having every single search plane at 99 exp, and that is the only thing I remember about gaining experience, other then the normal Figher-bomber/Bomber to undefended bases.

You have several options

1) Training

Per some tests done by a bloke named Bongo, 30% was deemed to be the best setting as it minimized operational losses for the airgroups (which might result in your better pilots becoming non-com casualties!)

2) ASW

Advantage here is that you can set the % level to very high without incurring too much fatigue and at the same time you benefit from sub hunting/attacking as well as an exp boost over time. Kind of slow though

3)Ground/Airfield/Port attacks (fighter bombers, bombers)

Pick a weak undefended base and commence target practice. Great for boosting exp on level bombers while minimizing casualties

Great, thats just what I was looking for.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was fighters, post 50 where training is moot.

Any Ideas?

If you have been away for some of the patch updates, beware that fatigue goes up and morale drops more severely now...

Yeah, I noticed that. After a few sorties from PM, my level bomber wings morale shot down to 18ish to low 30ish. After browsing through the forums, saw that the only way to repair it was to send them to a town w/o malaria. Which was Townsville and anything south of it.
