Hi Hubert, I am currently having a similar issue with my PBEM game. When I attempt to open the game to take my turn, I receive the same message, except that it says "cannot find 8200.dat". Can you help me? Thanks!

Hubert,
Again thanks for your help.

I was playing two PBEM games when I had to reinstall the OS. And when I tried to play the second game I got the error can't find "8706.dat"
I copied the file you sent me "8396.dat." I then renamed it to "8706.dat" and placed it back in the location you named in the email.
And my hunch worked. I can now play both games.
Sooo..... the file name is key and not the contents.
Perhaps something could be done so that we could fix ourselves when we have an OS reload.

Normally the game will auto handle it but there are some extenuating circumstances where it might not be able to such as the one you encountered or when a newer install has take the place of the older version that the game has started with etc.
