[FIXED DB v470] A-10 Cockpit armour

Post by Adam106 »

I'm enjoying Chains of War and the aircraft damage feature. However it's highlighted an issue with A-10 Thunderbolt cockpit armour - it's listed as 'None' in all DB's.

This should be 'Armor - HMG' shouldn't it? It's even used as an exmaple on the Warfaresims article on the feature. Or have I misunderstood the mechanic?

In a separate A-10 issue - the bombsight is listed as 'Basic - Ballistic computing'. While correct for the A-10A version, the newer A-10C update has a fully integrated INS/GPS navigation + weapon system. Will it make any gameplay effect - probably little, but for completeness sake, can it be changed?

Awesome game guys, it's kept me busy for over 4 years now.....

#11815 - Aircraft armor not filled in for most aircraft
Every a/c has zero armour now. Equality and brotherhood [:)]
I guess in the nearst DBs we will see a-10/su-25 armoured again.

I just looked at armor in db3000 469 for A-10C...

This is what it says...

Fuselage: Assault Rifle Resistant
Cockpit: 30mm RHA
Powerplant: Assault Rifle Resistant

Am i missing the issue? Is it in game execution you see it?

OK I've just checked and database 467 has the correct updated armor levels, 468 and 469 don't appear to in my build. Which is weird. Thanks for pointing this out.

I'll just use DB 467 for the time being.

Any comment on the bombsight issue - should be Advanced computing (INS/GPS) for all A-10C models I reckon......

So is your game not updated? What version are you running?

And the other two guys, are you not running updated versions?

I'm running the unofficial 1.13 release, the latest version...

btw, what is the unofficial 1.13? I thought that was official.

edit for clarification...

...OK, just re-read one of your posts and you are saying that 467 has the armor and 469 and 468 don't. So something must not be right with your install and dbs. I just checked again and 469 has the armor values for several aircraft: all A-10s, SU-25s, AH-64s, etc. I haven't done an exhaustive search though.

So something is messed up with the installs for the three of you guys. I would recommend a reinstall.

I have this too. In both the editor and the game all aircraft are shown as no armour. DB build 469. Are you sure it's an installation issue? Mine was a clean install to 1.13. The scenarios I checked are shown as using the latest DB. Where are you looking to check, 'thewood1'? I'm only looking in the DB viewer within game, either normal or in editor mode.

I checked my directory and it says DBK3_469.db3 dated 10/9. That is when I installed 1.13. Unit GUID #2911 A-10A Thunderbolt II - United States (Air Force) 1976

Copy and pasted straight from the database viewer...

Fuselage: Assault Rifle Resistant
Cockpit: 30mm RHA
Powerplant: Assault Rifle Resistant

Every A-10 variant has that armor listing.

OK, I see the issue on my side. Command is defaulting to 467 right now. So when I look at a blank scenario, it is showing the db from 467. As soon as I change it to 469, the armor goes to none.

Just confirming. If I start Command cold and load a blank scenario, it loads 467. It seems to stick to that unless I force a change to 469.

Are there any other planes that should have armour - so I can check?

And what about ships? Is this correct?

Thanks for the heads-up, guys! We re-designed large chunks of the database editor, and these settings got wiped. Restored in v470.

v470 is not a build version, it's the next version of the database. It will be made available in one of the future updates.
