And back to the action.
Land: Germany, Japan
Combined: Italy
No Port Strikes. No naval air.
Italy send 1 CP to the Italian Coast.
No strategic bombing.
German artillery bombard Lodz. Luftwaffe send all available aircraft to bomb the Dutch defenders. The German fighter pilots recent that their agile fighters are reduced to un-manoeuvrable bombers.

To bad. I would have like to see if the Dutch did entrench themselves properly this evening...

May be nice to add this information to Ronnie's guide to keep all game file information in one place.Searching on the hex location in y,x format (as per Ronnie's guide for factories and resources), produced 1 difference between Games 3 and 4.
In Game 4, this block of code near the start.
6
2,38,81,0,0,|0|
2,38,81,3,1,|0|
2,34,54,4,1,|0|
2,34,54,5,0,|0|
2,34,54,0,0,|0|
9,44,47,0,0,|0|
In Game 3
5
2,38,81,3,1,|0|
2,38,81,4,1,|0|
2,33,53,5,0,|0|
2,34,54,0,0,|0|
2,34,54,5,0,|0|
Deleting the row: 9,44,47,0,0,|0| and changing the top number to 5 removed the damaged marker from the port. I should add that not changing the top number to 5 and leaving it at 6 crashed the game on loading. One proceeds with peril when playing about with these variables.
The remainder appear to be the German and Italian fort units.

The German Stukas fail to hit the Dutch defenders. But the follow up Dornier's manage to get the job done.

Allies face the Blitzkrieg for the first time in Netherlands. While MOT advances and puts defending INF OOS (it's disorganized after a short visit of Lufwaffe) MECH overruns INF, captures both Amsterdam and Rotterdam and overruns Dutch fleet.
If nobody is online, I will send aborting ships to Plymouth as it seems to be a good port for CPs and any other ships. Let me know if that went wrong.

Japan debark MIL into Canton.
AA lands in Canton.
ENG lands in Haichow
Japan attack CAV, Germany attacks Lodz and INF adjacent to Lodz.
Germany uses attacking HQ support (on a 3 it succeeds).
Japan adds 3 points ground support to make attack 7:1.
Allies have no other option but call Lodz and China attacks Assault, or they are automatic.

Lodz is taken, but all units are disorganized. All defending units are destroyed.
If fractional odds would have succeeded, attack would have been a perfect success.

Germany rebases naval bomber to Amsterdam.

Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 8 (Allies)
Land Movement (cont):
France
Maurice Gamelin and his aide de camp, sit in the snug of their local, Le Chien et Canard just around the corner from GHQ. There is a map of the western front laid out on the table and an opened telegram lays on top. Both men pointedly ignore both the map and the telegram as though they believe that if they don't acknowledge them, the story that they convey won't be true. Gamelin's glass of red wine is untouched and he has lost interest in the half empty packet of scratchings de porc.
But the truth is inescapable. The pace of the German build up in the west has been far swifter than Gamelin, still thinking of warfare in terms of 1914, could believe possible. But worse still, he has now been informed that the Dutch have been beaten. The French Commander in Chief is forced to confront an unpalatable truth; his whole gameplan for beating the German Army is in fact, total and utter sloblocks.
Gamelin, in a rare display of quick thinking (following which he required a lie-down), orders two infantry corps north from the Armee des Alps. But the majority of his North East Front troops are not fully organised and unable to mount a move in support the Belgians. Does he organise the troops, using up precious oil? or does he lay his hopes in the buffoon in charge of the dice - who manages to throw 1's and 2's regularly when playing as the Axis?
Gamelin decides to risk everything and orders his commanders, Billotte and Georges, to keep their powder dry....
Communist China
Meanwhile, Mao is also in something of a pickle. He orders the Lanchow Warlord back toward Ningsia. The Lanchow Militia are ordered to hold Yenan while Mao tries to work out what on earth to do about trying to hold Sian....

After sleeping on it, praying on it, and most of all, pondering on it, Italy decides to join Germany in the war against the two evil empires, France and CW.
US reacts with horror when the news reach them that the war has expanded into the Mediterranean (one US entry chit added).
Germany declare war on Denmark and the world doesn't notice.
Will Denmark be joined to CW?
How will the Danish Fleet be placed?
