Lending resources then can't ship them question

Post by jjdenver »

Let's say CW has announced lending of 2 resources (min 1 oil) to France.

Then during the turn the cp's that could be used to ship them are sunk (w med, csv, bob, n sea all sunk).

Can CW during production say that 2 resources that it can't ship to England (let's say malaya/burma which do not have a convoy line to any British factory) are the 2 French resources? This way CW production isn't impacted.

Or is it necessary to reduce British production by 2 PP's?

Hopefully my question makes sense.

Thanks

Lent build points and resources are the first priority and must be sent first. So the CW will have a "messed" up production plan.

Can you help me understand that a bit more?

Does CW designate specific resources in specific hexes to go to France? What if they can't travel there? Does the game just prevent them from being designated?

What if there is literally no path to France, will the game just take away 2 PP's from CW or "lock down" 2 resource hexes so they can't be used? If so which hexes get taken away? Is it player choice?

I don't know what the game does. Unfortunately i have not been able to play it because of the bugs (don't like solo playing), but i know what it should do.

As askhpa told you the first priority of the game should be that you send the compromised resources first and, if then you can produce the rest or save them.

Those CPs need to reach France if possible. But anyway you have lost them, they cannot be used for UK. IIRW.

So if you can take them to France it's ok, else they are lost and cannot be used for anything else.

Player can choose which resources goes to France, I'm not on my computer today so I can't explain how to change it (it is somewhere in production planning. Try taking another resource and force it to France). Sometimes game tries to send East Indian oil to France...

Mayhemizer. Yes, provided they can reach France. it doesn't seem that's whay JJ is meaning. In this first post if they don't reach UK they will probably not reach France although it's not impossible.

In this post it seems more clear they cannot reach France anyway... Again I could be wrong.

If they are oil (and you are playing with the oil rules), the CW has to deliver those in any French controlled city or port...

That's a good point about the oil. The resource can come from anywhere because you announce a lend, you do not announce a source hex. Thus if no resource at all can be delivered then you can say that Malaya was the source and thus not lose a resource going to the UK.

That's how it works in the boardgame anyway, but in MWiF if you designated a resource FREX from the UK the turn before, I don't know how difficult it is to get MWiF to change it to Malaya. It is easier to change lending in preliminary production than in final production - that is for sure!

As for the oil, given the extensive CW CP lines and the number of French colonies, you'd be hard pressed not to deliver one somewhere no matter how much it screws up your other resource transportation.

Yes, if they are oil, and you are playing with the oil rules.

In fact it wouldn't even need to reach any french controlled city or port under certain conditions if you are using it to restore oil depending units at the end of the turn, isn't it? You just would have to have an imaginary line connecting both that is not blocked by the enemy...

No, the oil is still CW until the French get it during the production phase. If the CW and France cooperate, the French could use the oil, since you can use oil belonging to a cooperating major power, but that would not satisfy lending requirements.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

But even cooperating, the French could not use the Persian or Venezuelan oil until the turn after the CW has received it and stored it.

To get back to the original question, ...

As the sending major power, use the Production Planning Form to select which resource you want to send, and then click on the Trade check box in the lower left corner of the form. That will bring up a list of which countries you can send the resource to.

If possible, the program will use the resource you selected. If it isn't possible, then the program will attempt to find another resource that can be sent successfully.

Part of the original question was what happens to a selected resource if satisfying a lend turns out to be impossible. Can you change a previously selected resource to one that is innocuous?
