1.08 beta

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

The name of the unit "Bofors 40mm"(polish) could be better centered on the Nato symbol. Bofors 37mm is better centered :

Hi Ronald,
Is it possible to harmonize the name of the Polish infantry as the units of infantry of the other countries ?
Suggestions:
- Polish Regular 1939 -> Regular '39
- Polish Infantry 1944 -> Regular '44 or Infantry '44
Image

The Soviet Regular '41 is available in 1939. Changing the name -> Regular '39 or simply Regular or create another Soviet infantry unit Regular '39 ?
It would be interesting to have various types of infantry according to years as in other games.

Hi terminator,

yes of course it can be unified.

As for the types/year: there are several in the game (Germany '43/ Soviet '42) and i am willing to add more as long as it is based on significant changes in the TOE or structure (like in the Soviet Mech Corps) see image.

But this should be placed on a wishlist for 1.09 as i want to finalize 1.08 for release.

I uploaded a new version on the server which contains the Western Europe map and all tweaks mentioned here.

If you want to e.g. add 1.08 units to one of your maps that will be included in this release, please do so in the next days so 1.08 can be published.

Hi Ronald,

In this version PzIV F2 is available from summer of 1941. As far as I know, it reached the front line a year later. Have I missed something? If there were some prototypes in 1941 I will make a house rule for the 1941 campaign ''There are no Pz IV F2 on the frontline in 1941.''
The art of war is simple and esay to understand but fighting a war is hard.

Hi Marechal,

indeed this is a mistake, the KwK 40 L/43 was not available in 1941 for production.

Will be fixed - thanks for spotting it.

Bug with the button "Show/hide Deploy Fields" :
When I click on the button "Show/hide Deploy Fields" all the mini-map becomes green.

Example with Road to Demyansk :

Fokker DXXI:
-For Netherlands we have Battalion and Regiment formations.
-For Finland we only have Battalion formation. I find it too restrictive. I have made a test, the plane seemed very passive. Can be that with more strength (Regiment) he would be more aggressive?

1.08 final

Post by Ronald Wendt »

Hi folks,

thanks for your contributions, we are now finalizing 1.08 for the release.

@terminator: The Finnish D.XXI will get regiment. It may well be that the AI is not too pleased with the chances of a battalion of those planes.

We have support hexes (permanent deploy possible) and deploy hexes (only in first turn on a campaign map) in the game. Road to Demyansk is not a campaign map, so there are no deploy hexes. The filter seems to act normal, except there is something i missed in your description. Any road, this will be fixed in 1.09 if there really is an issue. Its too late for 1.08.

In the mini-map Road to Demyansk with 1.07 only the hexes around Dno (HQ 16.Army) are green (Deploy Fields):

Hi Ronald,
If you approve to add Regiment to Finnish D.XXI then you should approve to add Regiment to Finnish Bf109E ?

Hi folks,

@zakblood: you are welcome. [:)]

terminator: For mini-map it may be there slipped a bug in while we added the display of the enemy supply hexes in the editor. We will see to this in 1.09. Same goes for the Finnish BF-109. We can discuss reforms of the German Allies for 1.09. Had to draw a timeline somewhere. Your scenarios work fine an gave me some ideas for improvements already btw.
