About senario 0001

Post by HeinzBaby »

I've just finished playing this as NATO but from the senario notes, it doesn't say 'best played as'
only a 'Soviet breakthrough attempt' nor much of a Briefing as in the other senarios.
Anyone have any info about this or who designed it?.

Spoiler below

As NATO, the Sh%t hits the fan, there is the 6th GMRD reinforced - 4 Regts,
barrelling down your way (T64's, T80's, BMP2's BT70's, Air and Artillery support as I've never experienced before.
This is truely a 'Soviet breakthrough attempt'.
As Officer Commanding Taskforce Bravo (British), you deploy on the 'Lauterbach' Map with with two '2nd Line' Battalions
of 2 Infantry Companies with FV432's,(armed with SLR's, Carl Gustav's, Milan ATGM sections.)
and a Squadron of Chieftains Mk9-Mk10 per Battalion.

A third Battalion comes in as reinforcements.
You get no intel of what you're facing. None of your units have Thermals...
Your Scorpion/Scimitar Recce units have their work cutout.
When they Identified approximately 3 or more Recon Co's,
I knew a meeting engagenemt in the open would be sudden death.
I decided to Dig in along the Maar-Lauterbach-Frishborn line
Hardly a stacked unit in place due to the 'all Knowing' AI Arty in the 2.0.13s patch.
My own 109's laid mines to 'Flytrap' Ivan coming down the roads, I don't have any luck with
ICM's with 2.0.13s and prefer mass Battery/Bn HE fires, keep scooting the on map Arty, they are your killers.

It's a weird one. The counter colors are not right. Must be a 3rd party scenario.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Capn Darwin, the counter colours-Olive Drab, silhouettes-109 retouched & Unit Avatar-The Rifles, are my own.

End Game
Unit preservation was paramount, don't do anything stupid..

As Wellington during Waterloo and Rommel during Crusader once said "They came on in the same old way and we defeated them in the same old way."
Reverse slope and Ambush was the name of the game, and it was a smashing success.
I only sent a Reece Troop of Scorpions down along the south edge of the map then headed north searching for Ivan's RAG's and DAG's, this worked, revenge was sweet.
This was a great Senario
now to swap over and play as Ivan... insert evil grin
Final Screeny attached

For what its worth I finished '0001' as Soviet
On the righthand side of the screeny, I still had some Motor Rifle Battalions still to deploy.
This was a highly unbalanced senario, to control the important crossroads of Lauterbach,
nothing more than a speed bump, clubbing Baby Seals... a Decisive success.

I presume the senario designer just wants to see what happens when a Soviet Front wants to punch a hole through NATO lines...
(no seals were hurt in the assault)
