How do you merge your maps ?
I understand how to do it with 'paint' but is there a better method...
Great AAR, good job.

Great AAR, good job.
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

New era, for the first time except 1941 blizzard, soviet troops are on the offensive against fully entrenched german units.... and it works.

Strong counterattacks near Stalingrad

High tide almost reached...

We defintively give up Guriev's target

Battle extends around Tambov. I have strongly reinforced this sector with 2nd SS Pzk and 56th Pzk

Russians are really too strong near lake Elton

RE: January 1943
I think the worm may have turned.
Having said that I reckon the game is in the bag for the Axis playing a Peltonesqe 'hexes to Berlin' game. That wouldn't be much fun though - I'd love you to both go for a 1943 thrust/counterthrust slugging match like the SillyF v Brian G game

I have learnt a lot from Pelton but I don't use his maths style of playing.ORIGINAL: Sammy5IsAlive

Fun is the key! Winning or losing doesn't matter... I played several times past 1944 as russian or german.
Below an AAR where I lost but fight till the end.

One thing about Pelton .. great opening moves but I never noted 1 AAR that went to the end .. his opponents resign ... way too early .. much respect for sticking it out until the end

RE: January 1943
Pelton quit our game in the middle. The aar is around here somewhere. And I may play slow at times but I've never quit a game.
And my first time ever playing against a player is in an aar here as well. That one ended with Berlin taken in 1944. I was the German.

RE: Rumanians
Most romanian units are under romanian command, I'm short of german HQ corps.ORIGINAL: BrianG
btw, what is your oob for handling the Rumanians. Are they strictly Rumanian or under German Generals?
Is Baku screen secure or could he break out? Photo pl or is that classified secret.
Baku's line is fine at the moment. It will not last... but no spoil.
And the OOB, growing week after week on both side. Summer will be bloody.

I thought that lower Volga would be a quiet sector in the next week. Not so sure anymore

Tambov's area shows moderate activity

Interesting turn. I guess Stelteck is wanting to attack but where? And what about german counterattacks?
2 answers are given below.
Soviets recon during blizzard isn't very efficient and Semion Bogdanov wants Stalin happy. I'm sure he was proud to announce the encirclement of an elite romanian unit...

... but a whole panzer army is refiting in the lower Volga area. We strike back. 2 tank corps are isolated

2nd example north of Tambov. this attack could be considered as a waste of men, AFV and guns. But it shows that no russian stack, even with 3 rifle corps, can be considered as safe. German army is still the master of the eastern front.

Well this week shows how the game will evolve. Germans on the defensive, some success and counterattacks, but initiative is on the russian side [:(]
A new hot sector awakes. North of Baku, russians are launching an heavy attack. Losses are significant but it won't prevent russian OOB to grow

East of Astrakhan, the 2 tank corps were rescued...

... but now the Pocket is firmly sealed

A real defensive success north of Stalingrad. AFV losses look surprising...

And some fights around Saratov

The reopening of the pocket with the 2 tanks corps inside allowed me to evacuate the trained 6 support units attached, but the tank corps are doomed. [:(]

For the Soviets do the support units just rout with the HQs or destroyed like onmap units when isolated?
