Own ship behavior with "NO COMMS"

Post by ultradave »

Rather than ask in Tech Support, since I'm really unsure this is some kind of problem, I thought I'd ask here.

Playing the 1st scenario of Shifting Sands, and right off the bat, one of the Black Swan class DE/FF is hit by fire from an Egyptian DD and the damage includes "NO COMMS" which is displayed on the map.

So I can't order it to attack the DD, which makes sense (except that it's the group leader :-)). However, as my other FF is attacking the Egyptian DD, the out of comm FF is attacked by an Egyptian FF from a different direction. It does nothing to defend itself from this attack, and neither can I order it to attack the FF that is shooting at it.

It seems to me that a ship under attack should at minimum defend itself, unless of course "COMMS" refers to all fire control equipment in addition to radio communications with other ships in the group.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you checked the logs to see what kind of damage the ship received? Could it be that it lost weapons in addition to comms?

Looks like that is the case. I looked at the logs and the first flurry of hits took out the RF radio and heavily damaged the main batteries and the depth charges. Then after that it started racking up general damage points and minor flooding.
