Activate on Steam?

Hello,

I purchased the game on the Matrix Games website and attempted to use the provided key to activate the game on Steam, only to be told it was invalid. Is this game not one that we will be able to activate on steam if we purchase here?

I am aware of how to redeem my key. When I do so, Steam tells me that the product code is invalid.
