German Turn - French 9th Army (North)

List's 12th Army continue to make seemingly slow progress west. The Belgian K Corps are almost expended in delaying them but even so, there appears to be less urgency about the advance. The French don't complain, this at least gives them more of a chance to re-organise - and specifically for part of 1st Army to take over from 9th Army around Namur.

Albert Canal

The remnants of the Belgian I and III Corps keep Hasselt, Liege and Eban-Emael out of German hands, but have been almost decimated in doing so. Liege in particular came in for wave after wave of assaults. But notwithstanding these mini-successes, the Germans are starting to fan out south of the canal and will soon be moving on the Dyle and the Gembloux Gap.

Allied situation

A bit of a confused message. The UI shows 184 Dyle points. The reps tab show 200 Dyle points were required and 267 were achieved at the start of the last Belgian turn.

I assume that this is only going to get worse so....

The French have 22 PP. The cost of cancelling the Dyle Plan is now 20 points. I don't know what sort of penalties I get for not being able to stick with the Dyle Plan - there is nothing in the manual - but I assume its going to be bad. Gamelin orders a conference with all front, army group and army generals (doesn't he know there's a war on?) and during this, and in view of the situation developing on the Meuse, it is decided that the Dyle Plan will be cancelled (at a cost of all PP).

The 7th Army and their Flintstone car transport are here! They were told to give up on Holland and head for the general direction of the Escaut. How long will it take to get there? Who knows...... will the Escaut even be viable by the time they get there? Who knows.... [:D]

German Turn

The German armoured spearhead declines to cross the river.....

6th, 8th and 10th Panzer appear to be concentrating on Sedan, while 1st and 2nd Panzer remain content to stay on the east bank of the Meuse around Fumay - perhaps probing for weakness....

To the east elements of four German Corps keep the pressure on around Montmedy. So far they have not been able to find a way across the Meuse.

The Belgians continue their heroics between Liege and Hasselt, but the breakthrough of German forces is almost complete.

With the Germans seemingly double-backing on themselves, the focus I believe will be around Sedan and environs. To reflect this the French regiment of the 3rd Colonial Division defending the city are pulled back across the Meuse and the bridge is successfully blown.

French 9th Army

In line with the general plan, Corap has ordered his units further south, but may have acted a bit too quickly - there's a novelty for the French Army during this campaign. The bridges around Givet remain unblown and a large gap is building up north of 9th Army's position. The Belgians cannot be expected to cover this - it will need Blanchard to get a grip of the situation.....

General Blanchard is seemingly getting his units in place. The Cavalry Corps have been ordered south to bridge the ever widening gap between 1st and 9th Armies. Still some doubt over exactly where the boundary will lie between the BEF and First Army, but I'm sure they'll sort something out...

This set of updates sounds, worryingly, as if you feel you are getting some control over the situation?

The British Expeditionary Force sort themselves out and from north to south are II Corps, I Corps and III Corps. The decision has been taken to try and hold Wavre but for the bridges to be blown at the earliest opportunity if it looks like a withdrawal is required.

Giving Sedan to the enemy without a fight?! Is that the courage that the French forces are famous for? [X(]

The Belgians continue their withdrawal - or at least those able to withdraw. Hasselt is further reinforced with a brigade. This spells the end of 4th Division but it is hoped their sacrifice will be for the greater good....

The Dutch have 26% losses but remain in the fight. Not much to report. The remaining units that can move continue west within Fortress Holland and while the Allies need the Dutch to stay around, the Dutch Army just want to be put out of their misery.....
