Allied Turn: July 14, 1940

There's some more skirmishing between UK Destroyers and a wounded German sub. The sub eventually escapes at 3 Strength (started at 5)
and does 1 pt back to a Destroyer.

The Tourville continues to shell the medium bombers in Denmark, scoring another hit. The bombers are also down to 3 Strength

An Italian sub is spotted scouting off the Tunisian and Algerian coast.

France is doomed, not much more to be said on that subject.
The only question remaining is that of forming Vichy or not.

Vichy is formed on 1940/7/21. I would have considered pressing on had the Italians joined sooner but as it is, I'm happy to see the French fleet disappear.

Time to bring the battle to a different shore...

Allied Turn: June 28, 1940

The Luftwaffe flies over South East Brittan and encounters resistance from English fighters and an anti-aircraft battery.
Bombing runs are made on the Salmon (sub) in the London harbor (miss) and on the fighter's airfield (some damage).

The UK declare support for Free France.
The UK declines to attack the Vichy Fleet.
Italy joins the Axis and declares war.
Britain stands alone (except for Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Canada, South Africa, India, Australia, New Zealand)

More bad and funny luck happening off screen.

All quiet. Luftwaffe stayed home. Either to repair, or moved to another theatre.

Can't help but continue to cry/laugh at off screen events.

Allied Turn: August 25, 1940

English forces in Egypt attack the unsupported Italian Armor unit with Tactical bombers and the ground forces consisting of
one corps and one army stationed halfway between Mersa Matruh and El Alamein.
A few bombers were lost, but there were negligible (0 dmg) casualties to the ground forces. The half strength Italian armor retreats south of
Mersa Matruh.

Everywhere else it is quiet.

The Common Wealth support Iraqi Sanctions* and trade some Caribbean bases for US Destroyers.

-----
* Question:
In all the solo campaigns I've played I see the UK get the annexation territory in southern Iraq/Persia immediately.
It didn't happen at the beginning of the turn (after the decision was made at turn start) nor at the end of the turn.
Why?

I'm surprised the coup worked because I thought I needed the get closer to el alamein to trigger it (I thought I was one hex short to be exact). It's a bit expensive way to trigger it to blindly send the tanks crashing into bunkers but hey, whatcha gonna do...

Joint Italian-German forces start to carpet bomb Malta...

OKW wish list for christmas is quite extansive, will there be enough elves to build it all? :0)

Allied turn: September 8, 1940

The very large Italian air force along with some additional German Bombers hammers Malta. It would take 3 carriers
to be able to intercept all the raids.
However, there is no naval blockade.

Japan attacks French Indochina
US isolationists become more active.

Italy has been building planes. Lots of planes.

----
I find it odd that you have to choose between a ground unit and an air unit for Malta. There were some terrific air battles and
a rather famous UK ace (it's too late to look up who) from those encounters.

Malta defiantly stands. Mussolini loses patience and orders his navy to start shelling it.

I'm getting withdrawals period waiting for my opponent to play his turns. Maybe I should start a second AAR to scratch that itch...

Is there another newbie outthere that want to give crispies mod a whirl? :D

You could always do an AAR vs the Allied AI. I have tried to make it challenging! Expert, 20% income bonus, +1 experience, +2 spotting. You don't have to wait or hide your stuff. I would follow [:D] and would be helpful for balancing if i provide future update.

Allied Turn: September 22, 1940

Malta does indeed hold out by the skin of her teeth (AA down to 1 str)
Multiple Italian Battleships take pot shots trying to finish off the defenders but fail to do so.
Additional Italian ships take shots at the ports attempting to reduce supply.
There is a rather lot of hits the Italian navy has taken, and some to ships that weren't even up to full strength
before they started bombarding.
Some supply ships sneak in to Malta to buttress the defenders but is unlikely enough to save the Island, and they
are all praying for fickle rain. Baring that they will hopefully take more bites out of the Axis air force.

Italian Destroyer engages a UK sub that was looking to take a shot at one of the damaged IT battleships. This time
the Italian came out ahead of the game.

UK troops retake an undefended Mersa Matruh.
The Indian Corps parks next to Baghdad, with not enough supply to consider attacking.

German raiders are now more active in the Atlantic.

Franco again kisses up to the Axis (+10%)
Norway is now over 40% to the Axis. Can the UK get lucky or restrain themselves to prevent Norway from joining the
Axis, at least until after the USA is at war?

----
I presume that wasn't a shot at me. I did say what my availability was going to be like.

It is really, really hard to defend England, prep for the DAK, upgrade units and spend on research.

ain't a dig at you taxman, it's just the game vs human opposition is just happens to be more engrossing than expected. :D

I'm so hooked that I dream of NATO counters moving around. I wish I wasn't making this up.

Malta falls, UK sub narrowly escapes destruction.

Mussolini brash and costly decision paid off because my air force wasn't going to down a str 8 upgraded AA without any help any time soon.

German paradrop unit takes over Tunisia.

Now that Malta fell... what challenges awaits the Luftwaffe next?

Allied Turn: October 14, 1940

The Deutschland lay in ambush off the coast of Africa, most likely hunting for easy transports looking to make the run
around the Cape of Good Hope. The Canadian Destroyer Assinboine scouting the area stumbled into the German Heavy Cruiser.
A short engagement in the stormy seas followed. A day later the Deutschland was slugging it out with the heavy cruiser
Norfolk and the battleship Duke of York. The badly damaged Deutschland (str:3) now finds herself surrounded.
Can she escape?

---
Korut forgot to add that he took Tunisia (with Paratroopers) in addition to Malta.
Nevermind, I see he did include it. I missed it.
