Losing disk space fast, "Campaign Backups" folder

The "Campaign Backups", folder keeps duplicating itself on my C drive whenever I start the game on Steam. I have had the same problem since I bought the game, and I'm still looking for a solution. I bought the game recently, not long after the free dlc was released. I delete the campaign backups folder(s)and they just get re-downloaded every single time I start the game up. Approx 648mb per folder, not including save games.

When I start the game it goes to a small Steam based load screen the says "Performing first time set up", every single time I click the play button. I think that's when these "backup campaign", files are being created. Anyone else had this problem or know of a proper fix? Fun game, but very frustrating!
