Minimap is bugged, very small.

Post by Shadrach »

The minimap appears to fill just a tiny part of the area it's supposed to be.

DPI scaling issue probably? Running at 150% scaling on a 1440p monitor.

Also it would be nice if there was an option to set the size of the minimap box itself.

just been told, there is no option to make it bigger

asked it live in chat in the twitch feed and got a reply straight away, so atm no resizing i'm sorry to say, that's not to say it won't be maybe in the future etc?

so until a dev answers and says 100% no, you may one day get an option, but on release, not atm,...

Yes, but shouldn't it be filling the box?

depends on the size of the map and which way is was made in the editor i'd guess, as the map can be longer, narrower or a mix or either, so one box may not suit all maps?

I'll look into setting the size.

There is a 'Jump Map' you can access that is a whole screen view of the map that you can click on to go to one area.

Ok thanks - is there a keyboard hotkey for the Jump Map? TAB would be a good choice if there's no key at the moment.

Is so I'd just turn off the minimap altogether.

The jump map is accessed by double-clicking in the micromap. And it is the same scale as the micromap, so it serves no purpose if the micromap already contains the entire game map.

Understand the purpose of the micromap: To ease navigation around the main map. If you are playing a very small scenario, the micromap becomes mostly irrelevant. The micromap is mostly useful in medium-sized scenarios. The Jump Map is useful in huge scenarios.

Curtis; sure I understand that - it just seemed weird it didn't fill out the whole box it's supposed to be in, so I assumed bug. If it's just a result of the way the game is made, I guess it's fine. Would be nice if it scaled to fill the box though, just looks weird.

On the jump-map, it just seems a very convoluted way if there's no hotkey - FIRST, move the mouse to the lower left corner, SECOND double-click, THIRD move the mouse to the center of the screen and click on the jump-map... [8|]

It's a fixed scale: 1 pixel per hex. The micromap area is about 100x100 pixels. So, any map smaller than 100x100 hexes isn't going to fill the micromap box.

There is a Jump Map. Be happy. It wasn't part of the original plan.

The jump map had been requested a few times and we were gifted with it's creation. It works much like the jump map you use in the John Tiller games. Hot key J. Click on map. You go to where you clicked. Those of us who use very large maps are forever indebted to it's creators. Hail Jump Map Creators. Hail. [&o]

HAIL [&o]

Thanks guys, so there's a shortcut after all, very good [:)]
Just isn't in the manual so it must've missed the deadline I guess.

If the minimap could scale to fill the box, regardless of size, it would be great. And if the jump-map could be made even bigger so it's actually more usable, even greater. But not gonna ask for too much [8D]
