Rough going on editing so far

Post by Rosseau »

Firstly, the equipment editor doesn't work:

This is a very important factor in editing scenarios, and I'm sure the designers used it themselves. One beta tester (Lobster) said the latest version worked fine.

So what's the trick to get the file structure, etc., working??

I get error message "The file Equipment256.bmp could not be found..."

The regular editor also crashed on me after I added a unit. Not a promising start, considering this game is all about creating scenarios.

Please state if you use the inbuilt equipment editor or the one that was created by Andy, that only works with TOAW III. The latter is NOT compatible with TOAW IV, yet.

Ah, someone posted about the old editor working, and never dreamed there is now an in-game editor. Didn't read the manual of course.

Thanks very much. Hopefully, the crashes with the regular editor will be few and far between.

Much appreciated

I've been editing equipment files for TOAW IV with the old TOAW III Equipment Editor for some time now. I guess do as Klink suggests and use the in game editor. I don't know why it works. It just does.

BTW, I will be using the in game editor exclusively now that it's available. It just makes more sense.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

It does work to some extend (in my case the .BMP file was missing/mislocated), BUT... you'll run into mismatches with the icons, because they're no longer in the same order (as in2D ID or 3D ID) as in the new equipment256.png.

Seriously? How does that work with the older scenarios? I did't realize that had been done. [8|]
