In any scenario, click SOUND, then BACKGROUND. Click BATTLE SOUNDS to get battle sounds with no music. Click NO BACKGROUND SOUND to get no music and no battle sounds. That worked for me, and that is the way I play it. That setting should then stay the same for every scenario you play.

I'm thinking that the sound effects are a separate function than the music so that if you turn off the
background sound it won't effect the sound effects? I'm not sure. Tinker with it and see what it does
for your problem.

Not a fan of bombastic music in wargames, so I just listen to local radio while playing games like this, what do they even need sound for [:'(]

I deleted the intro music. Go to the folder where the game files are. You can right click the game icon and select the "open file location" and look for the theme music (I think that is what it was called) - it has a file extension of .ogg, and just delete that. Then like stated above lower the volume or turn off using the option screens.

The music is waaaay loud and annoying.

You asked that same question in the thread where you were robbed. I thought this was the answer. Or did you not dare to go back into that thread...

"Don't know. Mine went away with "No Background Sound."

I eventually found where the games files are stored. Not in the default /TOAW on the C drive but in a folder called C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\sound. It's called Main Theme.ogg. You do not have to delete renaming works as well. One thing I've always wondered about, why do some games store game files here?

This file is not affected by the sound settings, I assume because the game has not started. Annoying.

The new standard of Windows... hence, with most post 2010 (I think) games, tend to dump some files within the Windows partition. Don't ask me why, but I think Ralph explained it in one of the other threads. How's life so far in Sussex? I recall seeing you in the WitP AE/WitE forums aeons ago, mate.
