Great day in the air there!
The corner is being turned, well, sort of!

More like armored cockroaches. Lightning fast, too. Congrats on the A2A results, hope you can keep that trend going.

Have been reading this AAR for a while. Man! You are fighting very well for the position you find yourself in!ORIGINAL: Lowpe
Did some good in the air today. Wait till the Allies encounter the Rufe![:D] Next month Nicks on May 1, and A6M3 sometime a little later.

Sometimes things said in Nitwit sound very different in English.

Palembang still holds, no attacks yet, but another 4-6 units are only one hex away and one of those units is expected to be a full American division.
I am sending in the troop convoy...it will get really bloody here in the next few days.

Allied beasts continue working hard...Palembang of course is heavily bombed, but here the Allies go for the repair yards or ports at Saigon.

Pulling this squadron of 36 Claudes out, finally. Their last mission was escorting the Kate strike on a cargo ship in the Malacca straits. I will miss having a squadron of 36 Claudes.[X(]
I would have preferred pulling them out 60 days ago for the PP.

Ok, I thought better of that, and put in a group of fresh replacement pilots and will let them train 100%, 0 range, 10K alt, for the next few days -- till the 7th when I will withdraw them.
BTW, that is a nice starting group of A2A for raw replacements. I suspect within a year it will be down to 20 or less.
Has the added benefit of showing the Allies a rather large bump in fighters present at Saigon.

A look at Saigon's air defenses.
If you really want to really change the pace of the war...simply let Japan adopt a 40mm bofors instead of the 25 mm gun they went with. The T05 AA gun in late 45 they get is an absolute beast.

Saigon
The flak report on the base screen never seems to work well, I wish I could figure out what it does count.
That size 10 shipyard is great for repairing destroyers and subs. Some naval support add to its effectiveness. One AS is here now, and I plan on getting a few AG, and about 10 AD's here in the next few days.
An AR, AG, AD at Cam Ranh Bay round out a forward repair facility. Well, the AR hasn't made it here, yet, it is at Puerto Princesa with 10 AD fixing a destroyer. But will leave in 10 days.
I plan on converting every possible ship to ARs. I get to start next month.
Also from the picture, you can see I am short aviation supply. That is true for the entire Empire. I have an incredible strain here. I have 5 Air Divisions but are all spoken for. The 25th Air Flotilla is on her way though.
The runways will go to at least 8 for double the support. I have had to send some ground troops, the 41st Guard Btln to secure Cam Ranh Bay....

RE: Soviets Activated....
Here or Palembang...
Conventional wisdom is that without Palembang Japan is done. But I am done already, put a fork in me. [;)]
Palembang will never provide much oil to Japan, even if I reverse everything there as it is a smoking ruin for another solid two months. I simply lack the air strength.
I guess the argument here is that with two American bases in Manchuko this is pretty much pointless battlefield. However, I have to go on the assumption that I need to absolutely, positively prevent supply convoys from getting into Siberia and closer American Ports to Honshu/Hokkaido.
No sooner has the Zuikaku left, than P40s and plentiful Allied bombers show up hitting my bases and sinking two hapless xAPs (15 vp or so) that failed to unload their supplies fast enough. My bad there...
I had thought to send Rufes up here, and might to Bering and Medny, but Attu will need fighters and ships eventually.

Speaking of Rufe, be still my beating heart. Hope springs again the for Empire of the Rising Sun. The first two are flying, and one is in the pool. Look out!

I have this group, which cannot be resized, and two other groups that can go to 24. I plan to use every possible group that can fly float fighters..even those that later upgrade into the 5 series of Zeroes. I want my float fighters!

RE: Soviets Activated....
I've found that a very nice way of getting supply into a base is with Ansyu-C PB set on fast transport. Each one can carry 1000 supply and will unload in a day. Sometimes I'll set a string on 1 ship TFs to land at a base one day apart. I've been pretty successful doing that.

I use them for that, but sparingly. They are 10 vp each, and quite the fuel hog eating I think 5 fuel a day.
This was my bad, the xaps dropped off troops the day before and I neglected to order them out. I think they only had a couple hundred supply but they stuck around, unloading supplies because their orders got messed up by High Command (which was travelling, working off a laptop, tired, and in a lousy hotel room to boot! -- no way to run a war!).
RE: Soviets Activated....
There is a bug where sometimes, during orders, the flak report goes to 0. MichaelM was not able to find the cause. I was not able to notice exactly when it happened to give him a sequence of actions. When you save, exit, restart the game and open the save the flak report will be normal.
