TOAW4 unexpectedly exits when starting and canceling PBEM scenario

Post by JPJ »

I'm not sure if this is by design or not:

When I open a new scenario in PBEM mode, I'm prompted for my password in two dialogs. I click Exit in the 1st dialog, and again "Cancel and exit" in the 2nd dialog, as in the screenshot. TOAW4 instantly completely exits. I must restart TOAW4. I didn't expect that to happen.

I can imagine this is by design because it says Cancel and exit. But from my perspective, I started PBEM just by mistake -- I wanted to start human vs. computer but did not notice the Play Mode button was in PBEM when I opened the scenario. When I click Cancel here, I would expect that TOAW4 brings me back to the Main menu or the New game menu. So, Cancel and exit game, not Cancel and exit TOAW4. Is that possible if this is not by design?

exit does sound like a game exit, but yes some games give the option to exit to menu or desktop not quit out of the game altogether etc,... but will ask the developer if there is another way it could be coded, but as the minor changers even in the fonts and screen size needs a new start, it may be WAD (work as design) and how the game has been coded

Thanks, changing things to stay in the game instead of exiting was a recent change and I must have missed that piece.
