BMP terrain files can still be used

Post by Silvanski »

Not happy with the low contrast png terrain files I already started experimenting.
My modded BMP terrain files (normal view) placed in the Graphics Override folder give me a better view.
And I'm happy to find out that we still can use the old interface as well... Too bad that BMP unit counters (square!)are out of the question... Sorry folks I'm an old sportwho loves visibility over eye candy

I have done similar work, which can be had here if you hadn't seen it:
tm.asp?m=4378126

I also use the 'normal' interface, and also really liked the square counters. But it is nice to see that some folks are impressed with the new stuff.

Edit: I don't like the little hand that is used as a mouse pointer, but I haven't found the source file yet in order to change it. I will keep looking [:)]

Not too happy with the hand, and it seems a bit off.

I am not sure that the title of the thread is correct - Bmp's themselves are not used, you are converting them to Png's, right ? [just curious].

I am using the incredible mods from Telumar and they work fine at least the terrain tiles and so on should work, not the GUI.

Can't you just change the shape of the Countercolor masks to change the shape of all of the counters. They're all grouped together starting with CounterBackground.png. I could be wrong but it might be worth a try.

Thanks for that link, Oberst Klink! Those tiles look awsomely realistic.

Note that when you use terrain BMP files the zoomed out maps is gonna look very messy...

In Graphics under the folder Cursors there is a subfolder Obsolete Cursors... The white hand pointers is there.. I swapped them out

I did what I thought was the same thing here, but it did not work. If you have a moment can you look at Post #7 on this thread to see if you can get me straight ? Thanks !

tm.asp?m=4382007

Edit: NEVERMIND, I fingered it out! I kept doing the wrong things, instead of 'swapping them out', as you put it. Thanks for the putting me back on the correct path.

Herecomes the big news... I am converting my TOAW Redux terrain graphics to PNG... Bit of work to make sure the transparency etc is correct, but I'm making good progress.. Also included will be a cooperation flag mod with green orange and yellow flags instead of the gold silver
