Post by rjopel »

Game won't start.

Kicks out a Can not start game.
Opart CW.exe not found in the
installed directory.

Get this error running from both game menu screen and the Opart 4.exe file.

if you haven't got these files, then the game didn't install correctly and you will need to install and make sure the folder is wiped and reinstall with right click install as admin and check the anti virus and firewall logs your using to makes sure neither have interfered with the download or install

installing as admin should give the correct permissions to install, you can always install to a none default install location, eg C:\ Matrix etc

don't worry about the text on the screen shot it was taken and used for another post, so just used that, good luck and reply if it did or doesn't still work for you

I have the same problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but still no luck. Reinstalled as admin. All I have is windows defender running.

Have a look and see if your anti virus is deleting these files when you install the program. Bitfender has been deleting executable files as suspicious, I need to put them in the white list before I can get them to not be deleted.

Norton Security also tried to delete some files at install on me, so that could be part of the problem.

That message can also come up if it can't find your documents directory. I'll add some better diagnostics.

I've noticed while installing, it loads a bunch of files into a different directory. I've created C:/operational art of war but I see things going into users/"myname"/documents/my games/the operational art of war. Inside that is a graphics override, my fonts, scenarios and sound files. Is that the norm? Oh BTW I turned off my virus protection for the install.

That's perfectly normal - it does this to separate the game files which shouldn't be touched by the user, from the user-configurable files where the scenarios, ini-files, saves etc lives.
